Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Jan 26, 2018 5:05 pm We've built and sold and now renovating an old farmhouse in the Adelaide Hills. Need advice on whether we should go with jarrah or Sydney Blue gum direct stick floors. We had spotted gum in last house and I'd like something different. We did have jarrah in a former house and I swore I wouldn't do it again (every . single. speck . of . dust) but it really is beautiful. Plus we want to build a massive deck off the lounge room and will carry the flooring through. Issue is the house is a bit dark and even with widening the windows, the deck will make it darker. Will probably put dark grey granite in kitchen and mud room. Is there a big diff between sydney blue gum and jarrah? SBG looks of course lighter, and also higher janka rating by .5, but does anyone have experience of both in terms of aesthetics? edit: Oh, and we have a wooden kitchen (blackwood) Cheers Dy Stone for mantle and kitchen below. Wood is Jarrah.
