You can see on the plans that the rumpus wall should begin in line with the top stair. In the 2nd picture (sorry it’s an old one) you can see it’s clearly offset.
It’s a big deal to us because we wanted 2.75m ceilings downstairs, but this added an extra stair which then made the rumpus narrower. We made the decision to forego the extra ceiling height in preference for a wider rumpus room. The cost to upgrade to higher ceilings is about $3-4k, that’s why I would like that as compensation.
I have worked in a very senior role for Clarendon, and I wold insist that the either fix the wall or compensate you circa $7-10k. Peter Campbell the owner of Clarendon is a reasonable man and big on customer service. good luck
I'm sure Peter Campbell is well aware of how his business is operating and the quality of the finished products. He would be well aware of the cost of the trades and would have a say in lowering contract rates so that profit margins are larger and therefore lowering the quality of finishes as trades are rushing through jobs to keep the work profitable at their end...he might be concerned with customer service but he definitely doesn't seem concerned with any other quality, including construction in my opinion

Look you could be right, and you make some good points, however there is a real problem in the industry at the moment with a a shortage of quality trades and staff. I have just moved into a brand new Clarendon home with some significant defects and I have to say that they have been really good at fixing defects. But I do get the impression that good service really depends on your location. I am not a Clarendon fan boy at all, but I do know that Peter is one of the more honest operators, and I was sincerely saying that if you arent getting anywhere with the staff I think if your issue was elevated it would get sorted. Most of the major home builders are having quality issues at the moment especially with bricklaying and carpentry.
Anyway, all the best
