That's a generalisation though, obviously other factors involved That’s more along my lines of thinking too. Our internal bricks were placed on the slab itself, and they drive on the slab with the little brick bobcat thing so the slab needs to be sufficiently hardened first. Ideally you want your slab & foundations to cure as long as possible before the load (bricks) are added so in this instance a bit of a wait is for the best. If you have a chance to go to site and water the slab a few times it'll help too (my hubby stuck a sprinkler on ours lol). Someone else at work said that it is worth doing to help cure it & he has seen builders do it in stinking hot weather. I'm not expecting bricks to start going up until first week of feb so bricks delivered next week would fit in with that & give it a good 10 or so days of curing. I'm not in a rush with this part as i know how important it is for the foundation to be done right. Hubby (an engineer) was there almost every day with a hose, and then a sprinkler when he got sick of the hose Re: First Build with Summit Perth WA 85Jan 23, 2018 10:40 pm spiffmiff Summitlovin Not even joking, i was considering going out to water it! Chair, beer and watering the slab 😛 Re: First Build with Summit Perth WA 86Jan 23, 2018 10:54 pm Yeah we did ours too filled the edges of the slab with sand and made a massive dam and then just filled it with water. Came back and did it the next 2 days too Find my build thread here: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=88694&f=31&p=1729530#p1729530 Re: First Build with Summit Perth WA 89Jan 25, 2018 10:46 pm Wasn't done today so looks like that will happen next week with probably the brick delivery not long after. Also got my building inspection report and only a *possible* minor issue that needs to be checked with the evenness of slab in the 3rd bedroom. Other than that it's all sweet Re: First Build with Summit Perth WA 90Jan 28, 2018 7:49 pm Received an email from the SS with dates for the next steps in the build! Love the information given. All systems go starting Wednesday with drains to be done. Bricks to be delivered on the 5th with brickies starting a few days later. Can't wait to see my home start to take shape Re: First Build with Summit Perth WA 92Jan 29, 2018 12:39 pm J278 Any information is good information and every email is so exciting haha Definitely agree! Plus helps me save on fuel when I know when things should be happening 😂 Re: First Build with Summit Perth WA 94Jan 29, 2018 1:38 pm J278 I was even excited to receive our plate high invoice hahah $72K later Hahaha I can’t say I was stoked about receiving an invoice but I guess an invoice is a sign of progress. Got to take the wins where we can haha! Re: First Build with Summit Perth WA 96Jan 31, 2018 10:58 pm Congrats We built with Summit and IMO one of the best decisions ever. We have had so many friends built at the same time as us and with so many issues. Summit, on the other hand, is just too good, information via the portal and the best bit is having access to SS, not all builders allow that. we managed to get so many things done on the side while our build was going on, which is unheard off. Who is your SS ? Even after being in the house for more than an year we have no issues whats so ever. Anything that we raised was addressed to our complete satisfaction.. And atleast you wont have taps corroding with rust with in a years... I agree their system of using the portal & giving direct access to the supervisors is great. Makes it so much easier & quicker to access them to discuss issues or get updates instead of going through the office. My SS sent an email on the weekend with dates for the next 2 weeks which i really appreciated & did not expect. I have a friend who is also building with another builder who does not have a portal & i don't believe she has had any contact with her SS to date and she is a week or so into bricks. After seeing my portal she was disappointed she couldn't access info like that. My SS is Gary. I think it was supposed to be Marco but from what i heard he left recently. Who was your SS? Awesome to hear that you've had no issues with quality of build and products used. Part of the reason i went with Summit is i hadn't heard or seen many negative reviews or comments in relation to the standard of their builds. I hope i have the same outcome as you, you sound very satisfied with the process Re: First Build with Summit Perth WA 98Jan 31, 2018 11:23 pm Yes, indeed the quality of build and service that you get is definitely worth it. Our SS was Glenn, all of their SS's have been with the company for a long time and Marco, in fact, build the house for one of my friends. I looked our thread just now, it seems I stopped posting updates after a while as I was never in Perth. you can find us on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/ibuiltanewgen/ for later pics.
