Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Coral Homes Marcoola 32 QLD 315Jan 15, 2018 10:00 pm Meeting with our tiler in the morning. We mentioned some concerns about the quality of other peoples tiling on here and our SS was great about it, very reassuring. The tiler then called us and insisted on meeting him on site to go over everything, before he starts. Cant wait to see them go in! On a different note, starting to get annoyed at where we placed our house on our block and wished we put more thought into it. We weren't going to put a pool in but have now changed our minds Apparently, we cant put one in unless it's 3m away from the house, or we'll void our house warranty, because we didnt get any extra piering put in the slab to accommodate it. I can see now why people like building more than once, unfortunately you only learn from your mistakes during the 1st build, after it's too late lol http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=84825 Coral - Marcoola 32 Re: Coral Homes Marcoola 32 QLD 316Jan 16, 2018 7:59 am How long is house warranty? Surely you could build one once that has lapsed. Our current pool is 1m away from our house, there has been no issues. We are in the starting stretch of building a modified Marcoola 32 also. we have a start date of Jan 29. Then the site gets handed back to our pool builder until Feb 5 and after that it is hopefully full steam ahead Re: Coral Homes Marcoola 32 QLD 317Jan 16, 2018 8:02 am Coral have a warranty on the house for 20 years and there is a steel frame warranty for 50 years from our understanding, hope that helps. In saying that my parents have neighbours that have pools just 1m from the house on either side up against their fence and it has only caused slight movement settling over the years, no damage to their homes though. Re: Coral Homes Marcoola 32 QLD 319Jan 16, 2018 12:17 pm Yeah apparently 1m from house is quite normal but not sure what to do, if it will hurt our warranty. I know the pool contractors can add more piering to the house slab when installing the pool but im not keen on paying an extra 5k for that or however much it could cost. Might just have to put the pool fantasy on the back burner for a while and see how we go later on http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=84825 Coral - Marcoola 32 Re: Coral Homes Marcoola 32 QLD 320Jan 16, 2018 12:19 pm Week 7 (last week) & week 8 this week, excluding the 2 weeks xmas closure:
We met with the tiler this morning and he very much put our mind at ease and was very helpful with our annoying questions haha feeling positive about it now after reading the bad experiences on here. Cant wait to see some tiles in next week All our skirting/architraves were put in last week along with internal doors, roof lining to alfresco and wardrobe and pantry shelves. Paint should be happening soon http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=84825 Coral - Marcoola 32 Ask the council if there is a chance of getting build over easement exemption. Sometimes easements are unused and 24cm is not all that much. Good luck.
