Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 8834Jan 11, 2018 10:10 am Jenifermarie I think the end of admin is in sight for us We signed off our draft end panel back on 25th Nov but Wisdom didn’t come through with our construction plans until the last day before shutdown and because our tender had expired there seemed to be no one around in management to decide what to do with that so no final end panel. Found some mistakes on the construction plans (very minor) which were fixed yesterday along with a price increase variation which was a kick in the guts but mostly the delays were due to our land registering 3 months late. Not the full price increase but none the less more money Now we’re just waiting on our bank to supply our LACC because they overlooked our council approved plans and we should be done. I’m going to be so glad when this is done. It’s been 15.5 months since our initial tender request of which approx. 3 months was land delays. The rest was all Wisdom so anyone requesting a tender really should be pushing for a 12 month tender without any cost because I don’t see how Wisdom could get it across the line in 6 if your land is unregistered. We signed off all our selections etc about a week after our land was meant to register so we would have time it perfectly if there were no delays. We have also lost 5 weeks due to Wisdom’s Xmas shutdowns in that period (3 weeks in 2016/17 and 2 weeks in 2017/18). Building Wisdom Aspiration 31 at Willowdale https://ourwillowdalehome.wordpress.com/ Hooray! Happy to hear you are on the home stretch - then the fun begins! We were the same with unregistered land. Even with registered land I don’t feel Wisdom would get it all done in 6 months. It sounds worse now than it was when we went through it. Just know it’s worth the stress in the end!!!! Good luck with the build. Xx Building Majestic 40 - wisdom homes Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 8835Jan 12, 2018 8:38 am Congrats jenifermarie! Happy for you that the end of admin is finally in sight! That must be a huge relief! Hope all is well in your new role/job as well (been following your blog ) Msjovi, thanks for sharing your pics! Your house looks amazing! We are going for similar if not same colour theme - is your cabinetry Polytec Black Wenge? Last week i posted about my very plain all white kitchen. Will be adding splashes of black here and there (tapware, pendant lights and bar stools). But worry it will look very sterile and plain - but at the same time i wanted the kitchen to look "crisp and white" (i know, very contradictory!) Black Wenge cabinetry will be used in powder room and laundry. My question is, how did you guys go with Timpelle Kitchens? Did you find them open to your ideas at appointment? I wanted to do something similar to this kitchen island bench (pic below). My caesarstone benchtop will be plain white (intense white or ocean foam) and the side table will be laminated black wenge. We have made allowances for waterfall edge to kitchen island which is apparently about 3k for both ends. I might scrap this idea and instead have one side waterfall edge and the other side the laminate table (it doesn't even have to have legs - i've seen some without... lol!). We have extended our leisure room and kitchen so it's about 1.5m longer in length which should accommodate this design. I'm not sure the dimensions of the kitchen on pics, but i'm happy to have a slightly smaller length if need be. I know it's going to cost $ but it won't hurt to get a quote anyway, right? Do you guys think i'm being overly ambitious now? LOL. I get some crazy ideas sometimes and i am on annual leave as it's school holidays so i've had many hours spent on Pinterest! Our tender expire is last week of feb and we are waiting for our construction plan as we speak. When we were assigned CSO we discussed the tender period & I list out all the delays due to errors at drafting stage pre & post registration of our land! mostly post. Delay in registration of land is a killer eh? Something no one has control to. mandm+4 - yes it is a stockpile We are still waiting to hear from Allam. Alternatively we may use the gravel & levelling soil for our own landscaping if no one claims for it. Just need to move the soil to far end of the land. So apart from mower, would need a shovel as well! danik - that's unfortunate!! My advise to all new land owners, get it fenced as soon as possible especially around newer developments. You will expect a longer admin time & u do not want to deal with dumping Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 8838Jan 12, 2018 12:36 pm aaron2008 @jenifermarie I believe wisdom will give you an extension on your tender expire to waive the shutdown period. I’ve been waiting for the end panel fiasco to be sorted so I can roll it all into 1 post. Same with the mortgage process but the two pretty much go hand in hand. I found Timpelle happy to listen to our ideas for changes we wanted but they have a very clear line of what they will and will not do. I wanted pocket doors on my appliance cupboard but they said no because they’re likely to break so I’m getting a roller door instead. Have some alternate ideas about legs for the table because I’m not sure if they would do powder coated metal legs like you have in that picture. I’ve seen something similar with a laminate waterfall end to the table instead of legs Building Wisdom Aspiration 31 at Willowdale https://ourwillowdalehome.wordpress.com/ Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 8839Jan 12, 2018 12:40 pm aaron2008 @jenifermarie I believe wisdom will give you an extension on your tender expire to waive the shutdown period. Not sure our CSO cares that much either. Got told on the phone the other day that “there were other people ahead of me before she would have time to reply to my email”. I’m just glad it’s almost over, even with the extra cost! Building Wisdom Aspiration 31 at Willowdale https://ourwillowdalehome.wordpress.com/ Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 8840Jan 12, 2018 12:41 pm aaron2008 @asj1981 for stairs we wanted :- glass balustrade with open risers + all timber post (not the S.Steel post) and quote for all stained was 17K (in our budget) but we went with closed risers + glass balustrade + all timber post because due to our elevation we have very high ceiling which means we will have extra steps & mid landing. They said due to increase in height and some garage touching issue (god knows what but it made sense then) we can hv open riser but middle landing & top three step will be closed riser. Eh what? So we went with closed riser instead and all stain cost us 15K.Upside there will be extra storage under the stairs. Now Ambassador has railing going from stairs top end to main bedroom + we have extra steps which added to the cost hence 17K I believe your quote will be lower than that.
