Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Coral Homes - Hampton 26 - Tweed 9Dec 31, 2017 11:46 am Electrical appointment done and dusted last week and happy we only spent around $4500. We went down lights throughout all open areas but all the closed in rooms have the included lights and provisions for pendants in kitchen. We didn't do any fans, dimmers etc as my dad is a sparky so we will do it after handover so that has saved us a fortune. Here is our plan Colour appointment in a week and then we are done. If anyone has advice on sinks, that would be awesome, i.e. are the included sinks nice enough? We upgraded the kitchen benchtop to 40mm caesarstone with waterfall edges so I am happy to upgrade the sink if need be but really don't want to pay >$1000 and under mount is probably not a good option for us due to young kids who will surely chip it good... We couldn't afford a huge expense so went with gloss cafe tiles laid in vertical brick bond. Tiles were in standard range and we paid a little bit more for the brick bond pattern to be laid. Something I recommend is to pay a little more and get the tiles put up behind the rangehood. We only had paint in our rental and I hated it. Plus tiles are easier to clean. You can see pics of our splashback on page 41 of our thread Re: Coral Homes - Hampton 26 - Tweed 11Jan 09, 2018 6:16 pm Colour selection done and dusted. I'm a bit nervous with our brick selection as I have not seen the brick in person, only a few photos of houses with it (We did out selection in Syd but are building on the GC). Otherwise mostly grey tones. Exterior will be: Bricks- Savannah Cladding, garage & fascia- Surfmist Gutter- Basalt Roof tiles- Limestone Can't wait to build! Council application will hopefully go in soon... Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Coral Homes - Hampton 26 - Tweed 12Jan 09, 2018 7:57 pm Beautiful selections Steph!! You wouldn’t believe it Savannah was one of my favs. But hubby wanted grey so we went with the dark grey brick. I forget the name now but it’s on my page. You will be so happy with Savannah it’s such a pretty brick colour! We are still waiting to submit to council - CC has gone quiet on me. Lol I’ve sent her 3 emails today 😳 haha! Re: Coral Homes - Hampton 26 - Tweed 14Jan 11, 2018 10:26 pm Thanks! I feel better knowing at least someone in the street will like it even if I don't, haha!! I was impressed, we have been in contact with Coral this week. Apparently we are waiting on BASIX. I really hope that's it because out living arrangements are here, there and everywhere. Your pendants look lovely. I can't wait to look for furniture and the likes. We are literally bringing nothing but toys and clothes Re: Coral Homes - Hampton 26 - Tweed 15Jan 11, 2018 10:26 pm Thanks! Lol 🤨 Re: Coral Homes - Hampton 26 - Tweed 20May 11, 2018 8:38 pm Hi Guys, Haven't posted since council approved our build but decided to jump on to share a few details on the progression so far as I found it helpful reading others "timelines" and I couldn't find any builds to follow that were the Hampton 26 by Coral. Start date- 29th March WEEK 1- Site scrap, plumbing, slab prep, builders fencing, port-a-loo, etc WEEK 2- Slab laid WEEK 3- Not a whole lot WEEK 4- Frame went up (bottom storey and top but no roof framing) WEEK 5- Roof framing to start the week, gutters and fascia followed WEEK 6- Roof tiles on top (not on garage roof yet), electrical rough in, aircon guys started something and bricks delivered I have been impressed with our site supervisor after what was a terrible experience with pre-site admin. Hopefully we continue in the right direction. This is us at the end of six weeks. Hoping for some brickwork to begin sometime towards the end of the week. Thanks mj-mac4 for the pic . And yes any builder… 2 13718 In Qld it is a requirement that a builder must have a cost breakdown, for building a home to the same specification, with the same inclusions and the same finish. So ask… 1 1654 Ask for references and speak to them. If they are defensive or try to avoid the request, walk. 1 74206 |
