Browse Forums Building A New House Re: The CARLISLE HOMES & SPECTRA General Information Thread 7234Dec 11, 2017 3:44 pm Hi I am building with CH and my house is close to Lockup stage. I am in a tricky situation with CH's fault. They have put different colour brick for half of my house (in height) as the 2nd lot of bricks came with different colour. They are supposed to put same colour brick for the whole house. Even though we have informed them about their mistake well in advance, they simply ignore our calls and went ahead. In the mean time brick layers put 4 days worth of wrong bricks and the combination looks very ugly. At the suggestion of PGH, CH has come up with a patching solution - Clean all bricks with some special chemicals and paint with some special paint ( both bricks and grout). They say this is expensive fix - however PGH is going to bare the cost and comes with up to 25 yrs warranty for the paint. We told CH that we don't want all those paints business and we want just one 'same colour' brick that we have chosen. CH is very reluctant and unable to do that as the construction has progressed further. We really don't want to compromise with any patch-up paints or rendering. Can anyone suggests what are our options and should we do. How can we force CH to do the right thing. We are nearly paying 0.5m for that double storied house and very annoyed with CH response. Appreciate your prompt and correct suggestions. I just went through Colour Selection so it's still fresh in my mind - I was asked to sign a "Client Disclaimer Form" which contains a clause that effectively waives your rights to any remedies in situations such as the one you find yourself in. Do you remember if you signed one? If so, then you should be grateful that PGH is footing the bill for the paint solution and move on; If not, then I would at least ask CH to compensate you a reasonable monetary sum that fairly represents the grievance caused by this error. Re: The CARLISLE HOMES & SPECTRA General Information Thread 7236Dec 15, 2017 10:08 am Hi Timmylol, Thanks for your reply. I don't really recollect of signing any such specific things as we signed nearly an year ago. At the same time, I am sure they must have taken our signs covering themselves. Whats surprising us is , painting on bricks will have its own issues- such as fading over a period and requires maintenance and less value for my property. Yesterday we had a catch-up with SS and his boss, those I**Ts are very determined and telling the same thing again and again that 'Painting is the Option'. They also gave a free suggestion to go to VBA to complain about this issue. We said, instead, we go and stand in front of SPECTRA and at sales offices with a banner showing the picture of the build (where it shows different colour bricks). We are actually in that process and we will do that in 2nd week of Jan ( on every weekend) , if they don't resolve our issue. What made us annoyed is...in spite of their mistakes, they are asking us to go to VBA or accept a painted bricks. Ridiculous people ...is it for we are paying premium prices for their build? Re: The CARLISLE HOMES & SPECTRA General Information Thread 7238Dec 18, 2017 10:38 am Following links tells the story - which shows the mess up CH has done to our building. https://imgur.com/gallery/dEYtg https://imgur.com/gallery/MeapH Re: The CARLISLE HOMES & SPECTRA General Information Thread 7239Dec 29, 2017 5:22 pm MiG I don't see many new homes build from Carlisle. Aren't they good ? or are there any other reasons that people choose Metricon, Coral, Henley etc. Metricon is also not that great if you read the forum thread on this site and facebook. It's all very different from one person to another. Good luck! Second Build, this time with Carlisle 2016, can't wait! I'm looking for feedback with regards to how it performs during winter and summer, does it have good insulation properties as they claim? Also, how are the acoustic properties? Is it good at minimizing outside noise like passing cars from being heard inside the house? This is the first time I've come across foam cladding for external walls so I'm hoping to get some feedback from people who built with this material. 0 4934 We are at the stage on our build in Kilcoy, Queensland where we need to get our fencing installed but we cant get any contact details for our neighbours to give them… 0 6130 You should check your detail drawings, it may show downpipe within brick pier. 14 14021 |
