It’s going to be a big week next week - bring it on Re: Our Custom Hamptons Inspired Home - Almost at Lock up! 548Dec 08, 2017 5:57 pm Dani_J geminithinker Hey Dani. Who is your SS? Hey Gemini, do you mean the supervisor employed by our builder or the independent inspector? We are using a small private builder and have employed Darbecca for our inspections. And for the private one, did Darbecca do a good job? Follow our Arden Toulouse build at http://ardentoulouse.blogspot.com.au Re: Our Custom Hamptons Inspired Home - Almost at Lock up! 549Dec 08, 2017 8:05 pm geminithinker Yup arden is building right? Who was your site supervisor? And for the private one, did Darbecca do a good job? No, not Arden. We are building a custom designed home with a small builder. Darbecca has been good so far. Made a few little changes. Main issue is going to be our dining pendant. Needs to be centre of the dining table - but a bit hard to work out for a table that doesn’t exist yet! Changing our study doors to cavity sliders is still an ongoing saga lol. We had to get drawings updated to increase the size of the beams due to it being a load bearing wall. Then found out today that the new beams will only accommodate 2040mm high doors but the rest of the house has 2340mm doors. So back to the drafty/engineer to come up with an alternative. Lucky our drafty is my uncle! Alternative: a PFC steel beam. Hope it doesn’t cost too much extra... Almost forgot to book in our pre plaster inspection with Darbecca! Woops. Now booked in for Thurs arvo. And we still have ongoing water connection and legal point of discharge issues to sort out. The water company and developer seriously stuffed up with our block. We’ve got retaining walls around the front and side and I reckon they did them first and then the plumbers couldn’t be bothered digging underneath to properly run the pipes! Re: Our Custom Hamptons Inspired Home - Almost at Lock up! 552Dec 12, 2017 6:04 pm Dani_J blackcat20 They told us it wasnt possible for the Winchester, even though I've seen them on other Winchesters. We just gave up. That doesn’t seem fair. Surely if it’s an upgrade and you’re willing to pay, then there shouldn’t be a problem unless it’s got something to do with your developer and estate guidelines. Developers can be a real pain about the look of your home and what you can’t and can’t have. Definitely not the developer, they encourage a mixture of textures. I just think someone couldnt be bothered to look into it so it was easier for them just to say no. Re: Our Custom Hamptons Inspired Home - Almost at Lock up! 553Dec 12, 2017 10:08 pm Great progress Dani it's coming along really nicely! Just remembered we asked for additional heating points to our laundry and ensuite. Hope they remembered. Emailed SS to remind him. Plaster has been delivered on site. Frame reinspection and pre plaster inspection completed yesterday. A few things leftover from frame stage and a couple of new issues. Main one being some gaps in roof and sisalation which presents water proofing issues. Forwarded report to SS with request to fix all before insulation and plaster goes in. Lastly has a break through with the water company yesterday. Seems they are amenable to offsetting our water point which will be considerably cheaper for us!
