Because the trade will need to drill down with an auger or spade bit, the insulation will wrap around the bit as he drills causing mayhem. Standard batts tear easily compared to acoustic ones. Try to get a cable corridor down the wall where you want to run the cables. Licenced Sparky and Data Cabler If "The Data Guys" is too long to type, TDG will do. Re: Theatre room 5.81 x 4.43 13Mar 04, 2009 5:21 pm iTalk Great, what's the best way to support these conduits (I assume 2" water plastic pipes ?) on the frame ? no get clipsal 25mm or above flexi duct you can get clips that get attached to the frame then just leave about 100- 200mm exposed past the top plate with the pull wire exposed a further 100mm - 200mm past that. if you plan on doing other runs later install a secondary pull wire but mark which one is which ..... if your doing runs to the projector remember that it has the "bulkeir leads" only the run down the wall needs to be protected... it is hard to explain.. feel free to call me so i can explain to you over the phone Kodiak Data Cabling onFaceBook Consult*, Design and Installation Data, TV, Home Theatre/ AV Cabling, Multi Room Audio, IP CCTV and Door Intercoms Ask for a Quote. *DIY DATA Cabling Is Ilegal Re: Theatre room 5.81 x 4.43 14Mar 04, 2009 5:35 pm That's a good size room.. my room is only 4.14m long... I will probably go for a 92inch screen or maybe 100inch.. haven't decided yet. Viewing angle wise I am right in the sweet spot for a 100inch screen based on THX's recommendations so that is what I will probably go with.. I like sitting a bit closer than most at the cinemas!
Just remember a 100inch screen is like watching four 50inch plasmas all together.. so you certainly get a big picture experience!! I checked out a Benq DLP projector at Big Picture People the other day and it certainly looks sharper to me than LCD. I couldn't see this rainbow effect that people talk about, so I will most likely go with one of them. Re: Theatre room 5.81 x 4.43 15Mar 04, 2009 7:25 pm Rather than stuffing around with conduits, can't you just ensure that the noggins in the wall cavities where you want or even might want cables run are all turned on their sides? Then there will be no need to drill through any of them.
And you don't need 'pull wires' - that's what yellow tongue and other cabling rods are for (at least I find that stuff pretty easy to use...). Yeah those yellow tongues are really handy.. makes it real easy even with insulation in the walls. Steel frame is easy to wire later on as the nogins are only about 10mm thick. If you do it from the ceiling the studs are already pre-drilled and you just slide a plastic grommit in and down goes the wire! Rodda what is a multi room audio system?? Also with regards to the equipment, is better to stick with one brand for all or are you able to mix brands up?? Sorry if these questions sound really silly, but was planning to have a rumpus with a pool table etc... as opposed to a home theatre and now have changed my mind Re: Theatre room 5.81 x 4.43 19Mar 05, 2009 8:21 am ^^ A home theatre is a rumpus room with doors and big curtains
Multi room audio means you play something from one device, but it comes out from speakers in multiple rooms. Some systems are more sophisticated then others (EG, controlling the music from multiple rooms, not just hearing it). Re: Theatre room 5.81 x 4.43 20Mar 05, 2009 9:06 am When people want a pair of speakers in one room and another pair in another room (that they want to here sound from) that's multi-room audio. I use the term as more of a definition to describe a system that provides sound to multiple rooms.
As far as mixing brands goes - you absolutely should never restrict yourself to using just one brand (unless that brand happens to be the best one for every piece of equipment you want). The only reason for sticking to one brand is that you may gain some efficiency in the remote(s) (the TV remote may have some functions that operate the DVD player), or so they look cool sitting next to each other with the same badges on them. Basically, unless you have a really, really good reason for grouping your brands, just pick the best piece of equipment based on it's merrits...
