I suffer from bipolar and depression, so totally get where you are coming from... it's especially hard to not drown in negativity when you have a partner who is negative. Building is really stressful - definitely not the fun process I envisaged (and we haven't even started our actual build yet!) Hopefully your tradies will be back tomorrow and you will have a better day. - B A vue of the pines on the Gold Coast forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=87210 Follow my build: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=87724 Re: Katrina's 2nd home build - Gympie 214Nov 28, 2017 10:16 pm KatrinaH I don't think there has ever been a lack of trades, more a lack of organisation of the trades. The tiler is supposed to start in the next couple of days is all I got out of them this morning. They were supposed to call me back this arv to confirm things further, but I didn't hear back from them, and I feel like a pain in the a*se ringing them all the time. Apparently now they don't even know when the kitchen will get done, the kitchen company is falling further behind. I have heard that the owner is having health issues, and that's awful, I don't lack empathy, but if they're not coping with the workload, perhaps they should consider hiring someone to help them. I know living in a shed is nothing in comparison to having a life threatening illness, but our normally very happy marriage is really suffering. I am really not enjoying this build at all. Not even excited to see the things that do happen anymore. I don't even seem to care what things look like or the quality of the build, I would accept anything that closely resembles a house right now. Poor thing. It really is a stressful time. I totally understand how you feel regarding bothering trades and the builders. We seem to have had a similar experience too. I just remind myself that its the most expensive purchase I will ever make and its MY MONEY. So, if I want to call or email, I have the right to. I went through the exact same feelings as you, hopefully as soon as you get some progress it gets you motivated again. I would much rather a good quality house that takes a year to build then a crappy house that takes 6 months. I really like it. It's hard to get a good photo on my stupid cheap phone, it's not as dark as it looks in some of the pics. The lighter photos are more true to colour.
