Browse Forums Building A New House Re: JG King modified Heywood - Driveway take 2! 1247Nov 13, 2017 8:04 pm Photos taken in the half dark of a half wet driveway so it's not much to go by. It's very speckly, quite a bit more white stone in it than the sample we chose from . When we first arrived about 6 the guy showed up to spray it, closely followed by our SS. Didn't get much useful info unfortunately, it was too hard talking over the top of the pressure sprayer, he was in full defensive mode anyway. He did say site clean would be Thursday/Friday. Managed to get through to him that the neighbours stuff on our site will prevent the gas as much our mess. First time we mentioned it, he denied it was a problem, second time he said he would take care of it, this time he could see the mess so he took down the guys phone number. He is the ultimate optimist, he is completely convinced the gas won't be an issue. We have about a week left on our 21 days and he is certain they won't turn up until day 21. We both got the vibe that he thinks he can convince them to come back sooner than another 21 days if we miss out, we know it doesn't work like that. Having been with jgking for far longer than him, we're realists, we know he can't pull off everything as quickly as he thinks. We think pre Christmas is still very much in doubt. He said the driveway hasn't delayed anything and yet every time we talk to him the dates for everything moves further and further back . The driveway is the right shape this time, although not dimensionally correct. We verbally told him the straight bit should be 1m and last week offered to send him the drawing we gave drafting. He declined saying that he would ask drafting what the length on the drawing was. Today he says there were no dimensions so the concretor had to guess . I think I nearly bit a hole in my tongue. Fortunately it's longer not shorter than we needed, so we can work with it. Finally something is semi going your way. Not to scare you, but how did they pour and expose it in one day? We had our driveway poured at 630am this morning, but they needed to wait for ours to set until tomorrow to expose. I think it depends on the weather and which retarder they use. Last time they did it next day and the stuff they washed off the top was still sloppy days later, this time it was quite dry by tonight. We arrived a couple of minutes before the concretor did and I was concerned what it might be like by morning so I was happy when he turned up. https://r.tapatalk.com/shareLink?share_ ... are_type=t Re: JG King modified Heywood - Driveway take 2! 1252Nov 13, 2017 9:54 pm aloenyx Looks alright. I think the colour is better than the last one against your house. Can't believe they got it wrong again ;-; Yeah they're unbelievable! If he couldn't scale it off the drawing, surely he could have called us and asked! As long as the developer doesn't notice the discrepancy (unlikely) and use it as an excuse not to pay out, it'll be fine. Hubby is happy, he got a bit more driveway! https://r.tapatalk.com/shareLink?share_ ... are_type=t Re: JG King modified Heywood - Driveway take 2! 1253Nov 14, 2017 8:38 am You really are having a run of bad luck with your builder/SS. At least the driveway is now closer to what you want. Re: JG King modified Heywood - Driveway take 2! 1254Nov 14, 2017 9:49 am After being told yesterday that the linens would be painted soon, then the shelves could be done again, the robe people are there doing them today . I guess there is a chance they have been painted and he didn't know but I'm doubtful. Driveway this morning . I know I need to wait until it's dry. I'm sort of glad I lived a bit far from the house, I only saw it once every other weekend, so didn't have to wait for these things XDD Felt like magic!! Looks good so far.. but omg.. the linens *facepalm* Re: JG King modified Heywood - Driveway take 2! 1258Nov 14, 2017 8:25 pm aloenyx How long does it take to dry? The last one lightened fairly dramatically over the first 3-4 days. So tonight the csr guy was there fixing the insulation. Picked a good day to be in a roof 🤦♀️. The clean up has begun! Fence and toilet is gone! Hopefully more will happen tomorrow before the rain.
