Do you get the new $20,000 first home builders grant because it’s taken so long? I assume you would? The land would have increased in value in two years as well surely Re: Building Simonds Hudson in Warrnambool Vic 389Nov 10, 2017 9:31 am SileNceR Even with the extra wait I still think it would be worth building a house - short term pain but long term gain. Lesson learnt though, make sure you have a 1 year clause in your special conditions, not 2 years Building Simonds Hudson viewtopic.php?f=31&t=80646 Re: Building Simonds Hudson in Warrnambool Vic 390Nov 10, 2017 9:58 am You’ll have stuff all stamp duty to pay at least as you only have to pay half and it’s only on the land amount not the build too Re: Building Simonds Hudson in Warrnambool Vic 391Nov 10, 2017 10:02 am SileNceR You’ll have stuff all stamp duty to pay at least as you only have to pay half and it’s only on the land amount not the build too This is true, my partner is the one who’s pretty adamant he doesn’t want to build if he can help it, there’s definitely pluses to both, because if we buy it’ll be a cheaper house. Anyway, we’ll just see what happens! How about you, loving your new house?! Have you been updating your thread? I’ll have to go look, I haven’t been on home one for months! Building Simonds Hudson viewtopic.php?f=31&t=80646 Re: Building Simonds Hudson in Warrnambool Vic 392Nov 10, 2017 12:01 pm Yeah it’s great! I haven’t really been updating my thread; I really should! Lawn starting to come along now. Re: Building Simonds Hudson in Warrnambool Vic 393Nov 13, 2017 5:32 pm Aaaaaaand we got our titles... with 1 week to spare... Of course! Settlement is on the 27th of November 2017, exactly 2 years and 1 week from when we signed our contracts, after we were told we'd have titles at the start of 2016... Hahaha, I'm still salty about it... I'll probably just delete this thread and start a new one when we actually start building... Definitely keep the thread alive though: the drama is the best part of homeone 🙈 Re: Building Simonds Hudson in Warrnambool Vic 397Mar 14, 2018 7:57 pm So of course our titles came through just in time for us not to be able to pull out Our build started about the 5th of March and today we got our slab! Feel free to follow the action on my Instagram as well, @cait_x even made myself a hashing #simondshudson. I'll probably update there more regularly, but still hope to get on here to update too! At least it’s all go now though!! Bet it’s exciting to finally see some progress!! I have posted this before: We hired Darbecca to do every stage inspection, and I strongly recommend them to anyone that asks me. They were amazing.
