Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design Re: Garden (post project build) Sydney-Parramatta 25Nov 09, 2017 7:40 am Thanks cat. The design wasnt focused on the planting scheme, but rather shape and form of the garden. The feature trees will be either maple, prunus, forest pansy or teddy bear magnolia. I'm planning on getting a chippie to construct the pergola and I'll be doing the paving and garden beds. Garden (post project build) Sydney-Parramatta 26Feb 26, 2018 8:26 pm Been a while since my last Journal entry. Slowly getting things done with help from my 14yo son. Unfortunately my back injury has flared up and nothing much has happened since. I managed to strike a deal with my son and he's now employed Side garden bed planted out with Lilly pilly cascade (Syzygium leuhmanii) aka weeping Lilly pilly. I've admired this variety for the last 6 months on my weekly bike ride down the Parramatta cycleway. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ This is the hedge I'm hoping to replicate. Lime green, pink, red and deep green. Can't wait for them to hide that fence. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Another job was to clear out the front garden bed. The builder neglected to scrape the site properly when they did the driveway so I paid royally trying to handle this myself. My back reminds me each day. I recently engaged a contractor to bring a machine and remove the remaining 6m3 of spoil. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Got some soil and other supplies. My son kindly shoveled the soil into the garden bed. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The other supplies are sand and cement for the brick layer starting on the front fence this week. Should have something to share later this week! Re: Garden (post project build) Sydney-Parramatta 27Mar 09, 2018 6:12 pm The brick fence was started this week. 2 days effort and it's looking good. Its so debilitating when all you want to do it get stuck in. I have a gardening business in Penrith but I work as far away as Warriewood or Bankstown. If there's ever anything I can do to help just give me a buzz. We pass by Parra territory 2 or 3 times a week. If its big projects we could discuss fees but if its just something you cant do because of your back or something Id be happy to help. We'll be facing the same issue with the wall being less than 900mm from the boundary, and I'm dreading it. Re: Garden (post project build) Sydney-Parramatta 34Mar 17, 2018 3:53 pm My troubles were with the certifier. Stupid items that needed to be disputed. Silly money spent on unnecessary approvals and significant costs from sydney water, engineering, and the multiple inspections by the private certifier. Might have been easier going direct to council. Re: Garden (post project build) Sydney-Parramatta 35Mar 17, 2018 4:42 pm Front fence really added curb appeal. What type of plants do you have in mind? Did you diy? Can you share the plan you followed or guidelines? I am thinking about following the advises on Bunnings website, but the more info the better. Yes. Installed myself. I had a landscaper provision the 20mm pvc main lines during the slab prep. All other kit sourced through bunnings. Advice from friends and research online. I posted the plan earlier in the thread but parts etc are a test in patience at bunnings.... Back and forth between irrigation and plumbing sections.
