Re: Sekisui / Burbank -our Acacia home- Bricks Complete! 443Nov 10, 2017 5:44 am The_Joneses The stairs look fantastic!! Thanks I’m really pleased with them just hoping the dog doesn’t want to lick them all the time like she currently does with the slider window doors in our rental!! Re: Sekisui / Burbank -our Acacia home- Bricks Complete! 444Nov 10, 2017 5:46 am Well we just got a call yesterday like shazaw from the tilers, one of our tile choices is not available so we need to choose another, they have sent a picture of an alternative but there is no way I am choosing from a photo so unfortunately I need to take a day off work to get up there next week. Very ** off I have to do this Re: Sekisui / Burbank -our Acacia home- Bricks Complete! 445Nov 11, 2017 3:06 pm Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We may not have any doors but the kitchen is going in. I’m a bit worried they haven’t put the bulkhead in yet, the plans near the kitchen on the wall say ‘mdf bulkhead’ so guess it will go in at some stage. The pantry has been partially put in too and it looks a very dark space unfortunately! If there is any good news it’s that I am starting to remember why I fell in love with the flow and layout of the house Re: Sekisui / Burbank -our Acacia home- Bricks Complete! 446Nov 11, 2017 5:43 pm Hi, if you bulkhead meant to be out to the full depth of the returns (ie full depth of bottom bench) or just to the depth of the cabinets? If just to the depth of the cabinets, they build an Mdf bulkhead into it after cabinets are in. If it’s meant to be flush to the return walls (full depth of bench) then it should have been built with proper frames work and they will have to take you top cabinets down to build the bulk head and then refit. We know this as they did our wrong and we’re going to do the cabinet depth mdf one and had to pull the cabinets down to do the full frame. Re: Sekisui / Burbank -our Acacia home- Bricks Complete! 447Nov 11, 2017 5:48 pm Ah thanks so much for that explanation that really makes sense. I remember the Sekisui Show home person asking if we wanted the cabinets ‘flush with the ceiling’ and we said yes. It didn’t occur to us to have them flush with the bottom cabinets and I was just grateful she had pointed this out! So guess we are having MDF to be flush with the top cabinets. Ah well we live and learn!! Re: Sekisui / Burbank -our Acacia home- Bricks Complete! 448Nov 11, 2017 9:43 pm Yay for the start of your kitchen installation!! Our bulkheads were built after our kitchen was put in, so it isn't out of the ordinary. Re: Sekisui / Burbank -our Acacia home- Bricks Complete! 449Nov 12, 2017 7:46 am Oooo that's a nice back panel colour. Can't wait to see the butler and stone tops Re: Sekisui / Burbank -our Acacia home- Bricks Complete! 450Nov 12, 2017 3:32 pm Nice to see your kitchen started. let us know how you go with your tiles reselection. I hope you don't get my tilers ...I'm not happy with their workmanship. I hope you don't get my tilers ...I'm not happy with their workmanship. Build Thread : viewtopic.php?=31&t=81624 Thanks I hope the tiling is ok, our brickwork is pretty bad so was hoping we weren’t going to luck out with the timing too Sekisui / Burbank -our Acacia home- Bricks Complete! 452Nov 14, 2017 2:35 pm Well we got a Text from SS yesterday saying the kitchen cabinets should be finished Tuesday (today) and the carpenter was going to start this week I assume (and hope) this is for the outside pergola feature I can’t wait to see how that will look. Also asked him about the insulation between the ground and first floor and he assured us it had been put in according to our contract. Will have to believe him as it’s impossible to check now. Also went to the tiling place to choose an alternative tile. I was pretty grumpy by the time I got there having driven 2 hours to go 40km in rush hour traffic. I chose an alternative but I wasn’t completely happy although that was probably more due the mood I was in!! That trade above all others has been a nightmare. Not sure I like the cabinetry selections including the bathrooms, we selected them over two years ago and my tastes have changed oh and we got out pre linings stage invoice at last! Re: Sekisui / Burbank -our Acacia home- Bricks Complete! 454Nov 18, 2017 8:17 am Soooo good to see kitchen and pantry taken shape, getting tradies back on site to continue unfinished jobs is total nightmare for all SS. Yeah I'm also very unhappy with limited tiles choice. Carpenters have been our biggest problem trade too! First one did such a bad job our SS won't have him back, but he can't seem to get another to come and fix his work . https://r.tapatalk.com/shareLink?share_ ... are_type=t Re: Sekisui / Burbank -our Acacia home- Bricks Complete! 458Nov 19, 2017 12:40 pm Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ shazaw this is our front entrance, do not have a stepped ceiling but then maybe that’s because we do not have a balcony? As you can see it is very unfinished!! Still waiting for eves carpenters....
