We are at the point of deciding which carpet to lay in our new house.
We have read most of the posts but still remain confused and we were hoping for some advice.
After much discussion we have decided on 100% wool carpet. We have four children and two outside pets. We are building a new house and will carpet all upstairs (5 bedrooms and leisure area), staircase; and study and rumpus room downstairs. All up around 50 square mts.
We looked at some 100% wool carpets today:- really liked a plush carpet (Victoria Carpets Ninth Island, colour:Perfect Touch, 80 oz, for $345 per mt). However we are concerned that due to plush nature that this carpet will not be as durable as a twist carpet. Has anyone had any experience with this carpet and is it worth the high cost?
We also liked a 100 % wool Supertuft "Escape twist" in mocha. Is this a good carpet and will it wear better than the above plush (I think it is only 50oz in density)? The quoted price is aound &275 per mt. Is this reasonable?
The carpet people recommended Dunlop "ultimate". There seems to be conflicting advice re Rubber vs foam underlay. Is this a good underlay for these carpets?
Thanks for any advice.
