A positive is I think that means that your NBN connections/cables will be underground whereas ours will be overhead.
Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Brookfield home By Simonds 26Oct 24, 2017 6:58 am I personally think that if the door was surfmist everything would look far too white. I like your original colours better to break it up a bit. But if you really want to go with the surfmist, i would tell your SS to have the painter leave it all as is, but you expect a credit back for the mistake. Then paint the door yourself after handover (or hire your own painter if you don't feel confident doing it yourself, still cheaper than paying a $1000 fee for a variation.) Thanks KatrinaH, I have not said anything back to SS yet! My husband thinks the same as you, so making them to go with our original selection is the best at this stage. I just feel frustrated, I believe we have not asked for too many things apart from the light. Could I ask you, have you been able to make changes in your build once it started? What I have been said by our SS is that he is supervising more than 10 houses at the same time so our house is just one more 😥. But in saying that a big builder and their employees should be more helpful and advise novice people like us. We didn't have any idea about the process, design opcions and materials. They should have given us more support in our gallery appointment but again it might be our own mistake for not doing more reseach. Anyway, we are happy with more of our selections, so better to try to see the good things now to do not stress any more. Re: Brookfield home By Simonds 32Oct 28, 2017 7:00 am I have finally bought pendant lights for our kitchen, I just found them yesterday but I think they will be perfect 😍 A friend is also giving us a wall clock as her house warming present for our kitchen, she said we can choose any we like, so thinking in some copper . Another thing making me crazy is deciding which pendant lights go well in our white hallway, any ideas will be taking into consideration. Here photos of our pendants and a clock I like: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Brookfield home By Simonds 34Nov 26, 2017 7:43 am I have been so busy the last couple of weeks, no time to update here. On the 14th we had PCI which we did with a builder friend who took almost 3 hours doing the inspection. He found 34 defects that need to be repaired or replaced, so the next day I sent a whole report to SS and CRC. I've found interesting that we have just heard back from CRC (lovely woman) and not SS, it seems SS was no happy we found all those issues. Anyway, so as nothing has happened I sent an email to both last Wed chasing a final inspection day and it paid well as CRC call me to arrange for this coming Tuesday final inspection, so if everything is ok we might receive our house keys the same day o Wed. I cannot believe we are probably moving next weekend 🤗🤗🤗 Amazing! Fingers crossed! Here a photo of the side fencing colours we want, hopefully we will find something no more expensive than $500. I have enjoyed watching your progress - can you tell me approx how many weeks so far taken for your build from the time works begun? We have just completed our colour selection (take 2) and waiting for contracts to be finalised. It's close to Christmas break now, so I doubt we will start building before mid to late January, but we are hoping to be in by July....so curious to know how long your build has taken. We are building the Rio with Portland facade and I really like your external colours! Portland facade seems to be pretty popular in QLD, so far I have seen at least 6 houses in my neighborhood with it. Site was cut on the 23rd of August and then slab on the 30th, so we will have handover within 3 months 😄 I believe Simonds is a good builder, so if everything is arranged well at admin stage you won't have any delays once build starts. By reading other Simonds threads in here I found they take an average of 3 and half months to finish for one story homes 🤗 Good luck. I will have o/seas visitors in July next year. We have just completed colour selections and waiting on the contract...so if we start in January, we should make it. All the best for your new home! We got 3 weeks delays because of the so many variations (mostly upgrades and pricing errors). I would recommend to triple check all your inclusions to make sure is right. Re: Brookfield home By Simonds 39Nov 30, 2017 6:59 am We have finally had our PC done and signed. So far we are happy with everything the builder has done and are willing to have handover tomorrow or Friday depending on our bank check. Although we are disappointed to see that our floor grouting is still defective as its colour is not uniform throughout hallway, family, dining and kitchen areas. In our PCI report was shown as defect but the issue persists. SS just said that because it is almost white it will get dirty any way in a couple of months. So of course I am upset because that is my issue, no now that is new and I am not yet living in it 😲 We said we need to get a fixed grout, and then he said he will TRY but can't compromise. So I had to send an email escalating the issue with the builder CRC. I even sent a link with the QBCC standard and tolerances (page 62): http://www.qbcc.qld.gov.au/sites/defaul ... uide_0.pdf Our CRC spoke to me on the phone and listened to my complaints in a good manner, she will try to help. In the last photo we can see a good grout.
