Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 14909Oct 22, 2017 9:37 pm Hi all, new to this form and wish I come across this before we signed our contracts would have saved myself so many headaches. My husband and I are rookie builders and home owners (when our house if finished) first time everything'ers, and decided to build with Eden Brae at the start of the year when somehow we ended up buying land instead of a house after finding ourselves coming back to Eden Brae display homes every time we visited display houses we knew this was it. They also fitted within our budget (which is one of the main reasons we went with Eden Brae), we decided to build the Cremorne 30mk2. Long story short we have been given a estimated start date for late November, I am not holding my breath to this as this is the 3rd start date. July, September and now November. We are currently at DA stage, 4 days in to be exact and have been told this can take upto 10days. While we were signing our final client checklist we saw that we have been 'upgraded' to a hybrid steel/timer frame at no extra cost. My question is who else has had this 'free' upgrade added and is this a good thing or should I be preparing myself for more headaches and more grey hairs. lol cheers Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 14910Oct 23, 2017 7:49 am Petalz Hi all, new to this form and wish I come across this before we signed our contracts would have saved myself so many headaches. We have been very happy with Eden Brae so far and no problems Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 14911Oct 23, 2017 7:51 am Miffy voz Facade pillar - Moroka textured finish - Hey guys, Have you got Moroka texture finish for your facade pillars? If so, please can you share pictures? I'm not sure if I like it and thinking of asking for a change to render finish. Textured finish is fine I guess but I don't like to see the shape of the bricks through the coating. Any thoughts / suggestions? Hi Voz, our pillar is rendered finish. It was quite expensive though around 2500. It looks v nice and worth spending money. People choose to do it after handover and save money. Can you send a photo as we are thinking about doing it after handover . I found the issue only after gyprock went up as it looked odd. They're fixing it now and rearranging the frames as per the plan. I thought Steel is better. My build is in the final stage at the moment. We too were originally getting timber frames, and were upgraded to steel. I was originally wanting steel, but wanted EBH to build the house more than I cared about steel frames. The reason for wanting steel for me was the termite protection. I know the timber is 25 yr treated, but at the end of the day, it's still edible. I also know that our roof trusses will be timber and the termites can travel to the roof for a meal (although that's more unlikely). Having spoken to a pest controller that I know and trust - he said it's definitely a positive for termite protection. Having spoken to a builder that I have worked with, he sees mostly positives from it - the only negative he sees is when coming to renovate, it's harder to do (he pretty much does renos of bathrooms and laundrys). Renovation is the furthest thing from my mind!. I'm happy we have it included. As far as I understood the melamine shelves were only for pantry and linen cupboard . The wardrobes are just a wire rack.
