Browse Forums Building A New House Re: My Build: Bushmead with HGWA 3Oct 14, 2017 6:58 pm Hi Lucy, It's good see another HGWA in bushmead. I'm on Fairmile St what about you? That's exciting! I feel like my administration process has taken so long (not that I would know as I am a first home builder!) and me working away probably hasn't helped. Has your build gone smoothly so far? Morgan Re: My Build: Bushmead with HGWA 4Oct 14, 2017 7:31 pm We are on Fairmile street too! 179! So far everything has gone really well, we live in the Kimberley so some things have been a bit tricky to organise but home group have been awesome helping us out with it all! It does feel like it takes forever to get to the building stage, but it's very exciting when you start seeing progress! Morgan Re: My Build: Bushmead with HGWA 6Oct 14, 2017 8:12 pm Well then hello neighbour! I'm on 175. I live in Helena valley already so I try I drop by quite often even though it's the same piece of dirt as I saw the time before haha. You're right HGWA has been good to deal with whilst in other parts of WA and have made it rather stress free. I think I'm just excited to see the pad and some walls up to see how everything is going to look. Hey Rheezy, Another fellow neighbour! How is your build going? Re: My Build: Bushmead with HGWA 8Oct 14, 2017 9:04 pm Well from the looks of things it's going to be quite a friendly street which is good 😊 That's exciting! From what I have read it all seems to go quite quick once the roof goes on. Not sure exactly when the building will commence as I have only just sent back my final documents (they made a few errors so had to send final documents out to me twice and since working away it's taken time for me to get them back). I went past this arvo and saw that my water meter is installed which is a start! How long after your final documents did your build commence? We're lucky that we live so close because we can check up on how things are going with ease! I should mention that if you see a fairly young heavily tattooed fella constantly in the neighbourhood I'm not sussing out the place it's just me 😅😅 Re: My Build: Bushmead with HGWA 9Oct 14, 2017 9:13 pm Also! I haven't noticed it on anyone else's houses yet so I will ask the question here.. My builder made me put a skylight in next to my entry door to "comply with building guidelines" even though my front door is practically a solid transparent piece of glass... has anyone else had to put one in? My builder made me put a skylight in next to my entry door to "comply with building guidelines" even though my front door is practically a solid transparent piece of glass... has anyone else had to put one in? A skylight or a side-light? Skylight is on the ceiling and allows light in from, you guessed it, the sky haha. If I recall correctly, Bushmeads developer wanted the entry doors to have some form of glazing on them as part of their developer guidelines. The info should be in your land sales documents if you have them handy Find my build thread here: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=88694&f=31&p=1729530#p1729530 Re: My Build: Bushmead with HGWA 11Oct 14, 2017 11:41 pm Sorry I meant side-light haha. But yes Im aware of the building guidelines and raised the question with the builder but were adamant that it was required so just seeing what others have done. Re: My Build: Bushmead with HGWA 12Oct 15, 2017 12:57 am I would have thought glazing within the door itself would have sufficed? Hard to say without reading the guidelines though. Just glazing in the door itself. That's strange that they made you put it in! I should mention that if you see a fairly young heavily tattooed fella constantly in the neighbourhood I'm not sussing out the place it's just me 😅😅 Haha don't worry, I'm worried someone will report me for driving into the estate so often! Must look like I'm casing the place. I think it took a couple of weeks until construction started after the final paperwork was sent back. We made so many changes and found a few errors in our contract so spent so much time getting the contract done. In regards to the side light, we were originally told we needed one but ended up putting in double doors with plenty of glass panels so no longer need one:) Re: My Build: Bushmead with HGWA 15Oct 15, 2017 12:33 pm Yeah that was my thought to since the door had glazing already 😕 Hmm suppose it's too late now to do anything about it! Just a bit annoying as I put the 1220mm entrance door in with the glazing in the centre so that would have been enough to comply with standards yet still made me do it. Well that makes me feel a bit more excited that it might not be that far away from being started! Re: My Build: Bushmead with HGWA 17Oct 15, 2017 1:16 pm Hey Lucy, I sure do. I love your scullery and WIP. Also your backyard! I didn't leave much room for the future kids 😅 I have 14 acres that's only 5 minutes down the road so decided I didn't need a shed at the bushmead house. I've also attached a photo of my front door that I love! Will just need to imagine a side light next to it 🙄 Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: My Build: Bushmead with HGWA 18Oct 15, 2017 1:41 pm That looks great! I love how you've made your alfresco bigger! And that front door looks amazing! We were determined to have a semi-decent sized garden so we made sure we picked a shorter design! Hopefully your build gets started soon! Re: My Build: Bushmead with HGWA 20Oct 15, 2017 2:31 pm I would have loved to have a big garden too Lucy but with working away for so long and so often I just won't have time to keep it looking as good as it could. Yeah I'm surprised I needed one to! But ah well. The entire front door frame and door is stained timber so might end up looking quite good once its all tinted the same. Also just noticed in the latest final plans they sent me my entry door and side light isn't even centred in the portico?! Doesn't seem right 🤔 Thank you so much everyone. This all makes a lot of sense.
