Re: Metricon - Savannah 40 - Adelaide Athelstone 23Oct 05, 2017 3:43 pm erallanri hi, I'm also looking at the Savannah 40 with the Ilsa facade in SA but as a knockdown rebuild and was hoping you could share to costing of the 600 mm eves upgrade as I've just got my preliminary plans and estimate back but I forgot to ask for them as I think the house look a little odd without the eves. Oh awesome! Love the isla facade, it was one of the facades we first chose. What area are you building? Did you make any floorplan changes or upgrades? I agree, they can look a bit odd without them. Not everyone adds eaves to their house either because they aren't asked about adding them or they do not know they are not included. The first floor eaves are as below: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Metricon - Savannah 40 - Adelaide Athelstone 24Oct 05, 2017 3:45 pm craigo How do i add a signature? Looks like you've got it sorted. 3m ground floor ceilings! One of the biggest things I missed, didn't even know it was possible back then. When are you expected to break dirt? Went with the downstairs guest bedroom option which is most likely to be co-opted by my teenage daughter. Looking at your plans the Guest En suite looks to be laid out in a more usable fashion, will have to talk to them about our options. Also went with the extended garage, higher ceilings and doors, full high tiling in the wet areas and a window behind the cook top. There were a few other changes due to being in a bush fire area and surprisingly we almost hit the high wind loading but were just under. Kept everything else pretty much as standard, with the pricing on the eaves I will definitely be a having them included. We have a dead flat block in Athelstone and our site costs are almost double at 75k. We designed our own guest bedroom downstairs as the standard option wasn't great. Have to extend the garage on the savannah, the standard is just not wide enough. We are within 500m of the bushfire zone and had to include things. Same with us for the wind. Good idea with the eaves, if you have any other questions, feel free to ask! Re: Metricon - Savannah 40 - Adelaide Athelstone 32Jul 05, 2018 11:16 am Hello craigo, I found you. Sorry I think I got confused with you and someone else with pm’s when we spoke earlier. Doesn’t matter, got you now. What a cracking house and in adelaide. Love the plans and the changes you made. I agree with your fireplace position. Centrally is great and keeps a large recessed area for tv to be put central to the room. I’m very disappointed we couldn’t put a fireplace, we had 3 planned but at 10-12k each, we had to stop somewhere. Anyways will be watching with interest Re: Metricon - Savannah 40 - Adelaide Athelstone 34Jul 09, 2018 12:40 pm stoff17 Hello craigo, I found you. Drove past your build the other day, its a monster! Yeah we are adding the fire place after handover now. We were going to do it through M but budget was blowing out. Can you please tell me the details of your solar system and cost. I'm thinking of adding one. Thanks mate! Re: Metricon - Savannah 40 - Adelaide Athelstone 35Jul 09, 2018 1:08 pm Hello Craigo Following your build. You had me hooked at 3m ceilings. Metricon were the only displays that I saw which were 3m high downstairs. And when I started with my Doulton build the first thing I asked for were upgrade downstairs to 3M. Not sure anyone’s budget sustains when building a home, it’s ridiculous. We blew ours and had to eliminate many things. Sad face. We just wanted most structural things done, which can’t be done after. 3m ceilings, extended alfresco etc. As for solar we have a 10kw system split into 2 5kw, so 2 inverters and was with Bradford solar through metricon. Didn’t want exposed conduit if I done it after. It cost about 12-13k by memory Re: Metricon - Savannah 40 - Adelaide Athelstone 37Jul 09, 2018 4:14 pm stanus Hello Craigo Following your build. So much money just disappears Re: Metricon - Savannah 40 - Adelaide Athelstone 38Aug 11, 2018 11:57 am We are also in adelaide and loving your design, we have a very similar build but won’t start till next next (saving saving) We are burnside area and our site costs are about the same!!! I hear you! Do you mind me asking estimate costs of the finished house (no worries if you arent keen on sharing) just wondering as we are spending a fortune compared to others building but our build is a lot bigger than others so hard to gauge! (40 squares)! (40 squares)! Hi there! Thanks for you comments! Site costs for us are huge because of the extremely reactive clay, its a knock-down rebuild so the soil will be disturbed and due to tree effects. Our block is actually dead flat. Who are you building with? Single or double? We are spending about 650-700 excluding landscaping. How much are you up to now? I feel like I'm not spending enough compared to some of the builds on here haha! Re: Metricon - Savannah 40 - Adelaide Athelstone 40Aug 11, 2018 12:50 pm Oh I understand I see some builds and I’m like wow wish I had that budget! Double story, 4 bd + study, 600 block. 2.7 ceilings top and bottom, butlers kitchen alfresco all the standard things... We are at around $580 not including landscaping HOWEVER we havent done the working drawing yet so structural steel isn’t finalise, retaining wall quotes still to be confirmed and we are yet to go through selections!! We have asked the specs to be higher end so hopefully at selections We don’t go up another $100000 We are putting provisions in for gas fireplace, built in book cases and a wine rack wine /fridge area and depending on final costings will either do them when we have more cash or if they included st build stage.
