Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 17866Oct 03, 2017 3:52 pm jellytot Hi All, Has anyone made a change to internal colours while in construction? If so, what was the fee? Thanks If you go through Clarendon it's $1500 admin fee then any cost for change of materials etc... If you're looking at a change that's straight forward like paint, try and go directly through the painter... Even if you complete the variation, there's a clause they include that basically says that if it doesn't get done, you can't fight it and will just get your money back...so they don't guarantee changes after construction has commenced... How many of you would enage the services of a project professional to help with the build process in terms of: Negotiation of tenders, quotes, guidance on upgrades Guidance on processes for the build and externals i.e. council Guidance advice and co ordination of post handover activities, i.e. moving, utilities, landscaping, contractors etc Reason being is I have been in the project game for over 17 years, recently had handover of my house and came in under budget. So I feel there is an opportunity and market to provide a service to make life easier and less stressful for people. Would appreciate thoughts. Hi Gambit, I am sorry to say, I wouldnt engage that service. Reason : - Clarendon, Metricon and others are not builder, they are project builder - The project builder do everything for us, and we monitor. - Regardless of what service you provide, we still have to go to the colour studio to pick our choice. It is because each person have its own preferences. Even me and my wife fight due to differences in preference. - To check quality, we can hire Building inspector - To check the progress, technically, we dont have to. Its Clarendon and other projects builders job to notify us. They are our project managers to build our house, thats why they have to listen to what we want and need (but they are welcome to suggest). - Engaging in another professional service will have to put extra cost. PS: I do agree that they have been overwork and quality is out of control. It will happen to everyone with no exception. On another note, anyone received a letter from Clarendon saying now the CSC is the first point of contact for any queries including progress of the build? Have not heard back from our SS for a few weeks on build update - who used to call us every Friday. We also got the letter, so as of now everything goes through the CSC and no more weekly calls?? We haven't received our Friday calls for the last 2 weeks, but we thought it was because we had our Pre-lining inspection on Tuesday so thought that was more contact in one week than he was used too!! Not sure how it's going to work with everything going through CSC, she hardly gets back to us now as it is. Yes - I think it's a great idea, but needs to marketed correctly especially to first timers going through this process. We thought that very thing when we started, that it wasn't quite a Project Manager that was needed but someone to guide you through the very many steps - council requirements, CDC, demo, more demo, sydney water, structural engineers, the many levels of process and negotiation with Clarendon etc etc - it has definitely been a massive learning curve!! We had not heard back from our SS for the last 2 weeks too - guess that's consistent with yours too then. Yeah agree with you on the CSC bit - the only thing she did was dropped us an introduction email and that's all! Went to the site again today. Minimal progress vs what we saw 2 weeks ago, just the eaves for 1st floor been completed, together with bricks being cleaned. Roof tiles for the alfresco is still yet to be installed, main roof completed. bumblebee1985 wingzee JK27 What are people's thoughts on going through your site without your Site Supervisor or at scheduled appointments??? How are they meant to know the ins and outs of each specific job? What area are you guys in? When did you get your letter? Did they email you as well? Building in North Kellyville. Only got the letter via mail earlier this week, no email.
