Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Regent Homes Adelaide 7Sep 24, 2017 1:53 pm We recently built with them completed in end July 2016 (Henley Beach South) and have been living in the new house just a little over a year now. Our house is currently displayed on their website, they are not too bad. We have had tiny hiccups nothing major but were attended to, bearing in mind they are small family business so you can't compare to the likes of Metricon. Have also noticed a few more houses popping out with their company signs around our area so that's also another indication that people are going to them since they had their display homes at Blackwood and Lightsview. Re: Regent Homes Adelaide 8Jun 04, 2019 9:05 am Does anyone have any recent Regent Homes experiences? Like mentioned already in this thread there is very little in the way of reviews online for this company even years after this thread was started but they seem to be a growing builder in SA, seen quite a few of their signs on building constructions. Re: Regent Homes Adelaide 9Jun 08, 2019 6:52 am I met with them for a free design brief a few weeks ago. Haven't heard back yet Re: Regent Homes Adelaide 10Jun 09, 2019 12:11 pm I'm up to the same point, had my design meeting last week. They mentioned it would take 2-3 weeks before they got back to me. Re: Regent Homes Adelaide 11Jul 18, 2019 1:32 pm They are terrible with communication. After signing the contract, it seems that it does not matter how much you would pay for building a house. There has been no response to my last email for almost 3 weeks and no call back from them regardless of multiple voice mails left. Re: Regent Homes Adelaide 12Jul 18, 2019 1:37 pm cromorc They are terrible with communication. After signing the contract, it seems that it does not matter how much you would pay for building a house. There has been no response to my last email for almost 3 weeks and no call back from them regardless of multiple voice mails left. I feel your pain. I am glad it's not just us! Their finished product looks great, but wow their administration pre-build is very unprofessional. I am not sure if this is a deliberate cost cutting exercise, or if management are simply unaware that some of their staff are not equipped for the job. Let me know if you find a way through to talk to someone helpful! Re: Regent Homes Adelaide 13Aug 01, 2019 5:08 pm DO NOT build with Regent Homes. It has been a nightmare from the start and I should have seen the red flags. Poor communication, delays, told one thing one minute and another the next just to name a few examples. Know a few other people signed up and they are having dramas too. Lots of people have dramas with builders but I would never build with them again! Re: Regent Homes Adelaide 14Aug 21, 2019 11:53 pm Since my last post, I have had ANY contacts from Regent Homes yet. For anyone who interests in this builder, I would like to share one of the Google reviews posted a week ago on google search for Regent Homes. ** Disgraceful, l-ying and unethical builder with a misguided moral compass! It was not long after signing the building contract with David Lawrence we lost complete contact with him. He simply vanished. Repeated emails asking on updates, selections, timeframes were NEVER responded to. The build commenced roughly 6 months after when we thought it would. Eventually the process seemed to be gathering momentum. However, after approximately 4 months we were already on our 3rd building supervisor and clearly running behind schedule. This is when we received our 4th supervisor, Jimmy, who up until recently, Regent had blamed for the delay in the project timeframe. As the project completion date was nearing, we began weekly phone calls and emails to Ryan Gazzard who failed to come good on multiple promises to give us any updates. Average response time, 3 weeks. Once Ryan realised he couldn’t keep blaming his underperforming employee for the delay he tried to use vague clauses in the building contract to avoid any fault on their part. Mr Gazzard had a light bulb moment and thought it would be acceptable to blame the delays and communication breakdown on the unfortunate death of one of their employees. I’m not sure what sort of individual you have to be to blame anything on the death of your employee and even leverage off it. Not having the courage or decency to own up to your inability prompted this review. I have trouble within myself writhing the above paragraph but this is verbatim Regents answer to us. I hope all the “Regent Team” read this review and please feel free to write back if you feel any of this is inaccurate. Never again. 1/10 Regent ** I am seriously considering to seek some advice for pulling my contract out. Re: Regent Homes Adelaide 15Aug 22, 2019 6:12 am How far in are you? It makes a difference if you own the copyright to the plans or not. Much easier. Re: Regent Homes Adelaide 16Aug 22, 2019 11:11 am Yes I agree once the contract is signed you won't hear or see David again. But we had one issue which the site supervisor wouldn't budge on and David did check it out and agreed with us. We didn't see him but the supervisor confirmed he had a look. We know a few people who have built with them and all share the same story. Poor communication and the big one is reluctant to fix things after completion. As well as us we know two other people who had to go to Consumer Affairs to get things done. It shouldn't be this way but they just hope you lose interest and give up. Having said all that when you read reviews of other builders you see similar stories. When people ask us about Regent we are honest. They and their staff are very slack and at times rude but for us the job was completed ahead of schedule and overall the build went well for such a difficult site. I certainly wouldn't build with them again and for most custom family homes they don't care about repeat business. Re: Regent Homes Adelaide 17Mar 15, 2020 5:58 am Hi, Just to balance this conversation up. I understand some may have had a bad experience with Regent, but that couldn't be further from our experience. We ended up building with Regent Homes. We had actually gone a fair way down the path (selections) with Simmonds, until a mutual friend who used to work in the building industry advised us not to and gave us 2 other companies to go to. Regent was one of those. They custom designed our home, stuck to our budget (which was important for us) and produced an amazing quality home. We've been in it for a month and are really happy with it. RE: the process, it was relatively smooth. In hindsight the administration phase is a problem for them. Either it's a funnelled choke point in the organisation or an incompetent employee, communication wasn't great here, but when you look back at it that's not what is important when building a house. A site supervisor, Scott Power, was exceptional. Good communicator, leads his tradies well and stays on time. I know choosing a builder is difficult, but if we were ever to build again, I'd highly recommend Regent. Re: Regent Homes Adelaide 19Mar 15, 2020 3:12 pm Better still for balance: Consider most building projects are quite complex works and will always have some issues to be resolved. How a builder behaves resolving issues will provide a good insight into their capability and ethics. I recommend potential customers ask Regent Homes for the contact details of 5 customers that you can talk with directly (face to face or mobile phone at a minimum) about how Regent Homes behaved in resolving such issues. This will provide some balance, and a reality check to the anonymous comments on social media. Re: Regent Homes Adelaide 20Mar 15, 2020 3:30 pm Yes that's a good idea. We were out the front a few years back and a couple pulled up who Regent had given our address to. We were more than happy to show them around. We were honest as we have been here and my thoughts are posted earlier. Other than here I've never seen any feedback good or bad on social media regarding Regent.
