Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Ceiling Height - 2750mm 8Sep 18, 2017 7:07 pm bananarama Does that cost include extra height doors or anything? We paid 3k for 247m2 of floor space for upgrade to 2. then extra $560 to upgrade our 12 internal doors, and 210 to upgrade 6 sliding door panels, 360 for higher shower frames Hi banarama, No, I had to pay extra to increase the door height. I just don't understand why they are charging so much. Is there an organisation or something where I can go and complain? In my case it is a home and land package. So the contract does stipulate that I have to build with this particular builder. Re: Ceiling Height - 2750mm 9Sep 18, 2017 7:13 pm Unfortunately, there no regulator for pricing those sorts of things. Each builder offers a product at whatever price they choose, and if you don't like the price, you don't accept that item. The only time you have any option to escalate would be if they mislead you etc. Re: Ceiling Height - 2750mm 10Sep 18, 2017 8:24 pm cabaju brucefil2011 cabaju Hi All, First time writing a post. My partner and I are building a new house near Penrith and I just wanted to get some feedback regarding ceiling height. We have a small lot of 310 m2 and a 10 m frontage. So far, we are building a two story house and we believe that increasing the ceiling height will be extremely convenient so the house doesn't look too small. As per the plans we have 105.87 in the ground living area and we requested our builder to provide a quote to increase the ceiling height. Our builder has quoted us AUD 8,800 to increase the ceiling height in the ground floor only. Is this normal? Is it usually this expensive? I hope to get some good feedback so I can make up my mind. Thanks in advance!! Hi brucefil2011, Thanks for your reply. So far it only says that it includes 2x additional treads to staircase. But I have asked again and again and they said that it is their standard cost for 2750mm high ceilings. Re: Ceiling Height - 2750mm 11Sep 18, 2017 10:29 pm cabaju dave398 No that seems very inflated. I paid just over 2000 to increase the bottom story of my house to 2740mm and that was for over 200 m2 Hi Dave, Thanks for your reply. May I ask how long ago did you increase the ceiling height and the builder? Re: Ceiling Height - 2750mm 13Sep 19, 2017 8:11 am Rocchet Our build would have cost $8000 for the same ceiling height raise. We ended up with a package that raised the ceilings to 2590 instead It just depends on your builder. Hi Rocchet, Can i ask what builder was it? Thanks Re: Ceiling Height - 2750mm 14Sep 19, 2017 9:05 pm cabaju Hi All, First time writing a post. Re: Ceiling Height - 2750mm 16Sep 28, 2017 1:35 am The calculation is pretty much straightforward, but what makes sense is to ask your builder for the breakdown to see what he actually means. Also, depends a lot on what is your construction type - e.g. it will be more expensive to raise ceilings for double brick than for brick veneer. Thanks in advance!! What is the normal height that he is giving - if it is 2400 - then to increase to 2700 it might cost that much cos normally from 3590 to 2700 it cost around $3400 to $3800 at most builders follow my build Arden homes Votivo 37 iin south east: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=88622 Thank you @ashington Homes for your reply!
