Browse Forums Building A New House Re: DJ Roberts 35Jan 16, 2018 3:49 pm The following is my honest personal opinion based upon my recent experience. Just completed a build with DJ Roberts - whilst I would not say it was a build that took me to hell and back - it certainly was not an easy journey. The salesman says one thing, the builder says another and the sub-contractors do it anyway they want despite being advised otherwise. I would not recommend them at all - slow and you have to be at them all the time. They make it as if they are doing your the favour and yet you are the one putting up $200 000 ++ for the build in which they are making a profit from. Communication is average at its very best (mind you one office girl proved to be OK in passing on messages, but that is where it stopped). Whether it be this company or any other building company, please keep a record and copy of all conversations and correspondence, and use this as back up - for they insist you sign all their papers to cover their backside - you do the same. Where possible all correspondence should be in writing. As to who could go to - well that is a bit tricky hence I am not in the habit of building many houses. However, I would not take this company on. They are getting bigger and bigger with new houses around Browns Plains, and the problems will only become bigger and compounded as they have yet to get themselves properly organised from my vantage point. On a personal side I did not have any negative interaction with the personnel (was getting a bit toey with the salesman and work supervisor at a couple of stages), but I did not contract them for warm and fuzzies, and life long friendships. Only wanted a good quality built house constructed in a timely manner. At best, I finished with an average built home as opposed to their website stating "DJ Roberts is a stable, local family-owned business that has been constructing award-winning homes for the past 25 years." Feel free to give them ago, but be aware and make sure you have EVERYTHING TIED DOWN before signing - and do not allow the rush rush of the salesman to get you to sign hastily. Far better off having this part of the process being slow, cool tempered and right before signing, rather than rush to sign, hot tempered exchanges due to miscommunication (generally from their side) and a poorly finished house. Again, my opinion, I personally would not recommended them based upon my experience and final product. But I am not able to recommended another building contractor either. Just be aware, keep your eyes and ears open, and DOCUMENT EVERYTHING (even casual conversations - day, time, location and with whom), and stick it to them when they do not honour what they say. It could not be much worse than staying building with these guys |
