Gave in and emailed the builder, still with estimating for PO's. Not sure why that process would need to take a month but it is what it is. Hopefully won't be too much longer til site start
Browse Forums Building A New House Re: My build in Bloomdale, Vic -August start! 64Aug 30, 2017 7:41 pm No news from my builder yet, but I noticed a loo in the distance when I was driving past so investigated after my class- looks like something is happening! Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Looks like the temp fence only covers 2 of the 4 lots though so I doubt they'll be roughing in (umm is that what it's called when they do the pre-slab plumbing?!) etc until all 4 are ready. I'm just making assumptions though, I know nothing! Re: My build in Bloomdale, Vic -August start! 67Sep 01, 2017 5:42 pm aloenyx Ooh, looks like your moving closer!! Sammy74 Congratulations so exciting. Thanks guys I wasn't expecting anything to happen in the near future and I've still not heard anything from my builder, but I stopped by tonight and it looks like they've scraped the site and dug a square thing. I was trying to take pics of both square dugout bits trying to workout where my bedroom and garage would be- til I realised the other square bit would actually be my neighbours haha. Omg my house is gonna be tiny! Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I was jumping up and down and squealing when I saw stuff had been done, there were tradies up the road who must have thought I was crazy. Haha. I wonder if this means some exciting things will be happening really soon out there. I wonder if my builder will actually tell me anything or I'll just get big surprises when I drive past. Also learnt my supervisors name as a sign has been put up on the fence. Lol Re: My build in Bloomdale, Vic -August start! 70Sep 08, 2017 9:16 pm Today I received an email from the builder with an update! So site cut and set out has been confirmed as done, I've been notified my block requires piers (and promptly started having mental breakdown at the thought of these potentially not being included in my contract... my sales guy responded that they were included so mental breakdown stopped and excitement about the progress began!) the plumbing/pipe stuff was booked in for today, electrical conduits were booked for yesterday, and pre-pour for the slab is estimated for Wednesday next week! Once that's all complete they'll tell me when the slab will be poured. So of course I stopped by on the way home to check it out! Temporary fencing was left wide open so I got a decent pic! Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ It looks like the pipes have been put in, and I think that box is a power box? Not sure if that means the electrical stuff has also been put in?! I couldn't see any concrete circles so I'm guessing the piers have not been done (it's been raining pretty heavy this week) I'm really excited now! If the weather plays nice they should be ready for slab by the end of next week! I can't wait to see it! Also, it's weird but it looks like mine is the only one with pipes in, I was originally told all 4 houses would be done at the same time. I guess that's not the case! Re: My build in Bloomdale- started! 71Sep 15, 2017 9:02 pm Received an email update from builder yesterday saying piers had been done and slab prep was booked for yesterday- I headed out after work last night excited to see the slab set out and waiting for concrete but it would appear it didn't happen as advised. I was hoping it gone done today but given the weather (storm and hail) I doubt it would have. This being patient thing is so not me!! Re: My build in Bloomdale- started! 74Sep 16, 2017 1:29 pm Stopped by today and I think slab won't be too far away!! Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Current feels: I don't think it will be as tiny as I thought it would be, but I'm expecting that to change when slab & frames are done haha I've started buying a few little bits and pieces (bedding etc) thinking if I spread the cost out over the next few months it won't feel like I've spent excessive amounts on all the things I'll be needing/wanting and feel guilt for spending when I should be putting money towards my home loan will be heading out to IKEA to pick up two rugs they have on sale for half price next weekend (woot!) I believe they should fit under my dining table and also under the couch/living room area. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I am a bit picky with what I like, hopefully when I buy stuff that I do like it will all go together in the end the house has a lot of grey tones from my colour selection and black and white cabinetry/benchtops- I've bought a black and white chevron pattern doona, the rugs above are black and white, and most of the stuff I already own is purple so I think it'll work. I was looking at all the bedding at Kmart and accidentally spent several hours looking at Kmart fan pages on instagram, I'm happy to see you can get some fancy looking stuff on a budget! Earlier in the year I opened a bank account to put a few bucks in each week for furniture purchases, I'm almost where I need to be for buying a couch and bedroom suite, with a bit left over hopefully for a moving truck rental and whatever else I may need when I unpack all my stuff and work out what I'm missing (please be enough left over for a coffee machine! And omggg I would love one of those super fancy mixer machines for baking but I'm doubting I'll have enough for that!) This week I opened another account so I can start putting some money aside for bills- I've not lived on my own before and I've been stressing a bit about how I'll cope with electricity/gas/water bills plus car rego, car services, rates, vet bills, and whatever other bills will pop up as a homeowner. I don't even know if I'll be able to afford to connect the internet and what is life without the net!! I feel relieved now though as by the time I'm in I should have a chunk of cash ready for anything that comes my way Sorry for the waffle, managing myself financially is going to be a big thing once the build is all paid for, I figure if I post about it here maybe future single first home buyers who read this will also get thinking about this sort of stuff and it may be helpful? I dunno, but it's part of my home building journey so I hope it's ok to post about it Re: My build in Bloomdale- started! 75Sep 16, 2017 5:41 pm Congrats!! Looks like your nearly there with the slab. Smart move setting up accounts for different things!! It definitely pays off to budget for things now. Your being very sensible!! In terms of living alone and things, its hard, you need a bit of a buffer for connection fees and to get your bearings, then you'll be able to settle into a routine.. some things have surprised me by being more expensive then I thought, while other things have been cheaper. Re: My build in Bloomdale- started! 78Sep 21, 2017 9:07 pm aloenyx Conslabulations!!! DD How excellent. Love the sun setting shot. Thankyou I love the sky out there, I hope I still get to enjoy it when the area is a bit more built up- I think I'll cry if one of the houses out the back is double story! Re: My build in Bloomdale- Slab is down! 79Sep 26, 2017 7:42 pm Today I was driving past and saw a frame in the distance, got excited and drove over but my neighbours slab was down and frame in the process of being put up! It looks like my frames have been delivered too so maybe I'll get lucky and see a frame by the weekend- that would be so exciting! I wasn't expecting anything this week as there is a public holiday on Friday, but I'll be happy to see a frame of it does happen! Here is a drone image from the developer- I'm guessing it was taken on Saturday, as my neighbours slab looks not yet poured Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The park looks like it's had some progress too Re: My build in Bloomdale- Slab is down! 80Sep 28, 2017 8:24 pm I received my frame invoice today, so headed out after work very excited to see it! I don't know if they've invoiced me for my neighbours frame but mine is definitely not up! Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ They did say they've future dated the invoice to tomorrow expecting it to be completed by then, but considering it's a public holiday here tomorrow, I wouldn't have thought tradies would be working (though I'd be happy if they were!) I'll head back out on Saturday and hope to actually see the frame up so I can organise payment of the invoice! Also, I didn't look at the neighbours house (which is identical to mine apart from the front window) but I did notice even their windows are in! Jealous!! yes it does, you've just not understood it. theres a difference. 4 5341 Your house should come in "as new" condition. It should be clean, and without stains 1 4573 |
