Who's built with them. 432Aug 15, 2017 7:28 am My wife emailed again and she got a reply from the sales stating that she is currently away for 'workshop'. Oh well... should have told us earlier or set up auto reply. We'll just wait patiently for now. Re: SJD Homes. Who's built with them. 435Aug 17, 2017 7:38 pm Hi, we are also building with SJD Homes and had a couple of questions. Did your site supervisor organise an electricity meter and connection for power during the build or did he expect you to do that? We have already had an underground electricity pit installed and our site supervisor told us the the pit was not connected to the electricity at the pole as he could see a cable tucked into the white plastic pipe that is strapped to the electricity pole, and he said the cable was supposed to be connected at the top to the power. He asked us to get the power sorted and it sounded like he wanted us to also organise the power for the site - as in the meter and a temp builders pole. He said it could delay our build up to a month. We have since contacted both the electricity wholesaler (who installed the pit) and the retailer and they both say the other is responsible for connecting the power to the grid. We think the best way to sort this out is to raise a connection request for the site with the retailer and then if they do the connection to the grid - great and if they complain at least we will have something official to go back to the wholesaler with. BUT from speaking to my friends who have recently built (with Carlisle homes) they said the builder should request the meter and account from the retailer and not us. And it said so in their building contract. We checked our contract with SJD and cant find anything that says one way or the other (as far as we can tell anyway). What was your experience? Thanks for any help. SJD Homes. Who's built with them. 436Aug 17, 2017 9:53 pm TheWaitingGame Hi, we are also building with SJD Homes and had a couple of questions. Thanks for any help. We signed a form with SJD to connect us with a retailer. Ours was a knock down rebuild. We had to do our own pit and SJD supplied the meter. I assume from the retailer. We then had to get the pit energised with the retailer. I assume your site supervisor requires the pit to be energised which means getting the retailer involved. Our retailer charge $500 to energise the pit or connection fee it was classed as. Re: SJD Homes. Who's built with them. 437Aug 17, 2017 9:57 pm Thanks for the reply Jclw! I will ask our site supervisor about the form. Ours is also a knockdown rebuild. Cheers Re: SJD Homes. Who's built with them. 438Aug 17, 2017 10:28 pm TheWaitingGame Thanks for the reply Jclw! I will ask our site supervisor about the form. Ours is also a knockdown rebuild. Cheers Welcome! Yes best to speak to your site supervisor. We completely forgot we signed that form. I went through all the paper work and it was there. Also, expect to pay around $500 to get the pit energised. It might be more now but we paid $500 to the retailer(connection fee) Re: SJD Homes.
