I'm building a wooden house with way too much wood but the plan had at least the kitchen and pantry window as aluminium (which will probably leak heat like nobody's business). Thermally broken aluminium is a fancy name for aluminium window frame with a piece of insulating material wedged inside to reduce the heat loss.
