Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 24, 2009 6:50 pm Hello Everyone.
Well, we've come to the stage where we have started to look at external colours... we have an idea of what we want, lighter brick with darker roof. We want it to look a bit like Bella08's place, a honey coloured brick, with a dark roof tile, and dark windows - I do have a pic of one in the neighbourhood, but am not sure how to download the pic We have to use PGH bricks, we've looked at Hotham, Bathurst, Grovesnor and Beachmere, so far Bathurst is the front runner with a Monier Sambucca Roof, but I really would like a richer, more honey colured brick..... Can anyone help??? Has anyone got a similar look with there place who could post a pic and let me know what kind of bricks they used??? Re: Help me get the look! 2Feb 24, 2009 7:57 pm You should google the names of the bricks there might be some pics on google John, Tarin and the Kids Built and moving in to the Regent Grande with Masterton homes http://thebrownsaremovingtothecountry.blogspot.com Re: Help me get the look! 3Feb 24, 2009 8:38 pm I would google, but I'm not sure what to google for!!! I've been on the PGH site, and had a look at the addresses they gave us, but I'm still interested to see pics etc of people who have this colour scheme. Thanks for the suggestion though!!! Re: Help me get the look! 5Feb 25, 2009 7:54 pm Flicka be careful of looking at pictures on your monitor. Every monitor will give different colours on the display to the "real thing" also quarries etc change.
We are building with Austral Nougat, a light brick. On my monitor they are a silvery white colour. This is definitely not the colour in "real life". Austral had to pull Nougat from production for a while because of colour issues when they moved to the craigieburn plant. They are a different colour to what was produced before. A very different colour to the "display" boards at PD and other places. Similarly, La Trobe has also changed as well. So the moral is make sure you see a house that was built recently with those bricks if you can. Re: Help me get the look! 6Feb 25, 2009 7:57 pm Help me get the look!

I had thought the 'Grovesnor" PGH brick was the one to go with till I looked at some of the places who've used it...it's completely different!!! Thats why I'm wodering if anyone can let me know if they've had a similar desire to colour in the house same as me (honey/mustard bricks and darker roof), so then I can track down some places in my area that are the same... I'll take a look at Australs Nougat, and also try and figure out how to download the pic I took of the house in our area........ They seem to be a honey kind of colour and they are PGH too. Ok, here is the link to the bricks (sorry, I'm not sure how I put the actual pictures on here). The colours we are looking at are the bathurst (so far the front runner), hotham (a little too light I think), and we;ve also looked at the Grovesnor (soooo not the colour it looks in the picture). She has also given us a sample of Wheatgrass, but we haven't seen it on a house yet. What do you think of these colours with a darker roof. Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Help me get the look! 14Feb 26, 2009 8:13 pm Oh..Ok, sorry. I live in NSW, we can pick any brick, but have been kinda directed to PGH cause they are a big provider in our area, and so far they have been pretty good. Our allowance is 550/1000, and by selection, do you mean which range??? I haven't been looking at a particular range, just different colours etc. I just go to the site, and pick the name of the brick from the 'select brick section' Re: Help me get the look! 15Feb 26, 2009 8:13 pm Bathurst

You think it would look Ok with a dark roof (like, black)...I'm worried the lighter colours will look a bit 'washed out' and will date quickly with a darker roof. Thank for putting the bricks up by the way Re: Help me get the look! 18Feb 26, 2009 8:27 pm C/B Night Sky
