Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 24, 2017 9:28 am Hello, all, The rendering of the pier in the front of house was scratched by someone. On the day of damage, someone from builder and my landscaper were both working at my house. So it is very hard to figure out who caused the damage. In the end, I wanted to move on and fix the damage at my own cost. At first, the builder gave me the contact of renderer and I started contacting him. We made a booking three times so far he would come to my house to fix. However, the renderer did not turn up and stood me up three times in a row. When I got back to builder, the builder alleged it had nothing to do with them and became quiet. I also called for other tradesman. None of them was interested with this small job. In this case, I am wondering whether the builder has the responsibility to provide me a tradesman regardless whose fault it is. Re: Does builder has the responsibility to provide me trades 3Jul 24, 2017 9:54 am I am going to fix it at my own cost. Builder gave me the number of tradesman more than one month ago. I called him and made a booking three times and he said he would come and fix. However, he did not turn up. Now the builder became silent. My question is whether builder has the responsibility to provide me the contact of a tradesman. I will call the tradesman and pay him directly. The first tradesman the builder provided broke his promise three times already. Re: Does builder has the responsibility to provide me trades 4Jul 24, 2017 10:04 am the builder already gave you his contact, the builder cannot force him to answer or to do the work as this is outside the building contract. So no the builder has no responsibilities here at all, this is between you and whoever you contract to do the work. What would I do if the builder gave you a contact that he would never come to do his job? Re: Does builder has the responsibility to provide me trades 6Jul 24, 2017 10:26 am Easy, Find a different Vendor the builder did you a favor and gave you his contact. that was the end of his interaction with this. the Vendor he gave you obviously is not interested in doing the work. So find a different one. Remember this is your house now not the building companies. Your situation highlights the problem of the owner doing work on site whilst builder is still there. Don't do it. The conduit needs to be able to have fibre run through it. NBN and Opticomm are just… 4 2891 Sorry but you have a crap builder. Probably too late now. For our last build I only spoke to builders who would allow me easy access (at no cost). I used my own sparky… 10 9837 |
