Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Coral Homes general build thread 9202Jul 21, 2017 2:03 pm Avoca26_Qld Hey everyone, we're a week out from handover with Coral in QLD, and just received an email from Origin regarding a meter alteration (something to do with Tariff 31/33 for the Heat pump hot water system). They're saying Energex typically charge up to $800 but the amount can exceed $3000....just about spat my coffee out!! Anyone else had an email like this?? We've paid the connection fee and usage during the build but no one has said anything about having to pay to have the meter set up for this tariff so we were just a bit surprised. In our contract it says Hot Water system will be connected to economy tariff 33 to reduce running costs.....bit vague on who pays for this though?? Any input would be greatly appreciated!!! Can you post the letter? Is it a standard fee/charge? We should be told about it if it is Re: Coral Homes general build thread 9203Jul 21, 2017 2:39 pm Becs Coral The electrician didnt install the battens, just the Down lights. The electrician rang us to ask of any cha gea before he did the rough in and that's when I told him what we wanted and he gave us the prices. Re: Coral Homes general build thread 9204Jul 21, 2017 3:39 pm fec88 Has any of you on here remove the appliances and got your own, if so what did Coral give you back on the appliances? Sorry late reply if not already answered. We kept the oven but had them remove the dishwasher (technika) and supplied our own (I installed it after handover). We got a credit of $313 Re: Coral Homes general build thread 9205Jul 21, 2017 4:19 pm We went gas instantaneous hot water too. But a work colleague said today the same thing about energex she just upgraded her hot water system and was told the same thing Re: Coral Homes general build thread 9206Jul 21, 2017 7:19 pm This really makes me mad if we are all in the same boat - where do we all pull this extra cash from that you don't know about. Coral must know this information too Re: Coral Homes general build thread 9207Jul 21, 2017 7:21 pm OMG that is insane! We have also gone with instantaneous gas hot water. We got a text for a change request with no details, just a reference number and the same costs. I called Origin and it was to upgrade the meter box to 3 phase which had already been done so no charges applied. Did get a confirmation email from Origin as confirmation. $800 seems excessive to be put on Tariff 33 tho so I would be questioning it. I don't know what my tariff with origin is, but the only upgrade I had to pay was for the meter when getting solar panels installed, was like $85 or $90 Coral Homes Avoca 25 in Gainsborough Greens Gold Coast Viewtopic.php?f=31&t=81406 Re: Coral Homes general build thread 9210Jul 21, 2017 8:42 pm This must be a new thing now, having to connect electricity yourself during the building. I recall someone else having the same on ages ago and they complained and it got changed. Re: Coral Homes general build thread 9215Jul 22, 2017 1:04 pm Thats a mounting block very unusual to put one of that size on there. There are ones that are about as thick as a powerpoint. In saying that though my thoughts are it's be done this way because either they have not cut enough stone away to allow for the usb points to be mounted (these are quite large on the clipsal iconic series ie the switch mode ps on the back of the outlet) and for mounting screws to be installed so they have used a large mounting block Or they were unable to potentially close a drawer behind it as mounting it flush components would be sitting inside the cabinant. Have a chat to your lecco about it as id say it would be 1 of the 2 things above failing that its just lazy workmanship If no drawer is fouling on the back then tell them to stop being lazy pricks and do it properly it will take an extra 15 20mins but don't settle for it looking like that Itll take getting the right size cutout but not too large that a mounting bracket will pull through and a shroud put on the back of the point to cover things internally easy stuff for someone that takes pride in their workmanship Hope this helps Cheers Re: Coral Homes general build thread 9216Jul 22, 2017 1:22 pm That just looks absolutely ridiculous and I won't accept it in that state. Coral Homes general build thread 9217Jul 22, 2017 1:34 pm Lazy. Our electrician initially said we couldn't have a PowerPoint in the island either. Until I pointed out that the display homes have them. It just takes a bit of extra work. Assuming your drawers aren't the full depth there's no reason it can't be flush to the end panel. C U S T O M. C O R A L. Noticed yesterday when watering lawn our watertank must be out of water as the hose cut off. But the tap didn't automatically convert to normal water. Now o can't flush toilets in the house or use washing machine as that's all hooked up to default to tank water. Is there a switch somewhere ? Or is this how they have rigged it up Edit: turns out the pump failed. There was a light flashing 'failure'. We turned it off and then on again and now it's working. Maybe the pump is just stuffed. Who knows. C U S T O M. C O R A L.
