It's great that you've finally decided to go with it, Novaqu! Good luck! Re: HEBEL help??? Pros and Cons, need to make a decision!!! 12Jul 15, 2017 10:33 pm We have Hebel in our current home and are getting it in our new home. Pros of Hebel I find is good insulation.. the walls are never got and windows are your limiting factor for letting heat in/out. Aesthetically looks good. Very quick to put up. cons are good luck drilling into it and getting stuff to stay fixed.thats about the only con I know I and u have to paint it so I guess there's painting upkeep vs bricks which can stay bare Re: HEBEL help??? Pros and Cons, need to make a decision!!! 13Jul 31, 2017 7:58 pm Hi Novaqu, How has your house construction with Hebel gone so far? My husband and I are building a single storey house with Metricon. They include full house Hebel rendering for us. They have been marketing Hebel very well and we never felt anything until I read many reviews about cracks and maintenance with Hebel. What do you suggest? Also does Porter Davis offer you any guarantee with Hebel? Re: HEBEL help??? Pros and Cons, need to make a decision!!! 14Jul 31, 2017 8:33 pm Hebel make a good product, and as products and materials go, it's the way they are used that needs watching. Foundations are the main problem, if they move so does everything above it, usually in the opposite direction. I wouldn't be concerned as much about the material as much as the manner in which it is employed. Having said that Metricon build a reasonable house but they're not fireproof. Re: HEBEL help??? Pros and Cons, need to make a decision!!! 15Aug 01, 2017 2:46 pm Yeah. Hebel is a good product- cheap and looks great. But I was wondering if using bricks cause the same issue as cracks due to foundation issue as well? Therefore, Brick vs Hebel.... Which to choose??? Re: HEBEL help??? Pros and Cons, need to make a decision!!! 16Aug 02, 2017 9:57 pm We built with hebel 12 months ago. It is fully rendered with a tinted render, therefore no upkeep. We have double glazed windows as well and find the thermal quality of the house fantastic. We never drop below 16 degrees inside even on the coldest days. We have had no issues so far. Hi RC56 We haven't started our build as yet as our stage in the Woodlea estate hasn't settled yet hopefully in September 2017 (not long too go). I am doing owner builder and I while I did my training course for the white card, our trainer actually praised Hebel and said it was a fantastic product. That made me even more confident. I visited a Hebel Metricon home in Balwyn (all hebel) looked stunning. Was next to busy roads and couldn't hear a thing outside. Standard uninsulated double brick has an R value of around 0.7. An insulated standard 90mm stud timber frame can have an R value of around 2.7.
