Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Can we fit a security screen door behind the entry door 5Jul 13, 2017 10:37 am arcadelt Trouble is entry doors open inwards and so would the security door - when they are outside they swing opposite ways. A carpenter or builder can do whatever you want, but it will sit someway further inside the house so that they do not smack into each other too badly when fully open, and you will never be able to have the door open to let breezes through and keeping the unwanted out. You could change the main door to swing outwards, but then you would knock over those who come to the door, and again get no benefit of security, because you will have already opened the security door. Here's a thought: how about trusting the world a little and do away with the security door altogether? Thanks for the thoughtful reply. You're definitely right. We might get a good security camera systems and insurance and that might help. Re: Can we fit a security screen door behind the entry door 6Jul 13, 2017 10:39 am tngo Is this just me that I extremely hate a security screen door in front of entry door, but for the sake of getting breeze I would love to put one in. I found this place which seems to be the only place in QLD http://decoview.com.au/ which makes a laser cut screen a security screen with a flymesh on it, but they quoted me $1500 for a door Hence my topic question as I think it might be a cheaper option. I loose the benefit of open the entry door from inside if someone knocks on it and talks through the screen door though. Those doors are fantastic! Thanks for the link. I've bookmarked it. On your question, I agree with others that it would be very difficult to fit a security door inside. Perhaps you could get one as a pocket door that you slide out after the front door is opened? However, I really don't see the point; doesn't seem to be much different than having on in front. If you got a nice decorative one similar to those in your link it would surely enhance the outside, rather than detract from it. Re: Can we fit a security screen door behind the entry door 9Jul 13, 2017 4:09 pm the security door is also flyscreen so to have a breeze without flies needs a security/screen door i have thought about making an enclosed portico but couldnt get it to look right on paper Re: Can we fit a security screen door behind the entry door 10Jul 15, 2017 7:40 pm saw this tonight and thought of your post - the guardian doors looks like a 2 in 1 door with screen and external door. https://www.doorsplus.com.au/doorsolutions/external/ Re: Can we fit a security screen door behind the entry door 11Jul 15, 2017 8:49 pm Nawsome saw this tonight and thought of your post - the guardian doors looks like a 2 in 1 door with screen and external door. https://www.doorsplus.com.au/doorsolutions/external/ Thanks Nawsome, it's not bad at all, if they could just make more design or pattern so the door doesn't look very plain. Re: Can we fit a security screen door behind the entry door 12Jul 15, 2017 8:51 pm Joker Wrought iron doors are stunning, safe, secure, but very expensive, worth a look. Yes, I've seen these options too, they even more expensive than the Laser Cut Doors.
