Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Jul 12, 2017 3:27 pm I am trying to find a home design with a large lounge at the front. I have been looking at home designs of various builders and they all have multiple sitting areas (e.g. rumpus, activity room, theater etc) even in larger homes. All I want is a single large sitting area (around 5x5) at front, and another usual living area with dining and kitchen. I would appreciate any suggestions please. Re: Large formal lounge 2Jul 12, 2017 3:40 pm My weekender is designed for casual living only. It has only one open plan north facing living area which includes casual living with dining and kitchen. This living area is a little under 8 x 10.m.
I don't have any privacy issues as my house is set back 600m from the road. Re: Large formal lounge 3Jul 12, 2017 3:45 pm I think you are looking for a floor plan that is, to be honest, not what most people are after these days, which is probably why you can't find it. A lot of people (not everyone) these days prefer to have the living room in the middle or back of the house for privacy from the street, so this is what the volume builders cater for. You may need to do a custom designed house to get what you are after..... My blog: tashandpaul.wordpress.com Re: Large formal lounge 4Jul 12, 2017 7:04 pm Hi, ohgosh! If you are very specific with the floor plan, you can have it customized. You can create your own floor plan based on how you envision your home to look like. Re: Large formal lounge 6Jul 14, 2017 11:48 am Thanks for the much appreciated replies, I think I would have to go with the custom build route. Would someone please suggest some reputed custom builders in Melbourne? I've read some good reviews about Latitude37, but would prefer to have a few more options to compare.
