Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 17478Jul 11, 2017 9:14 am cybistro jellytot For those thinking of installing flooring after handover, we have just removed from our contract and these were the numbers based on a Sheridan 39 with rumpus At the colour consult, we selected laminate, platinum range carpeting and 10mm underlay. The total for the carpeting would have been $10753 ($4788 allowance + $5965 upgrade cost) The total for the laminate would have been $9908 ($5007 allowance + $4901 upgrade cost) Total = $20661 Instead, Choices Flooring will be installing the following post handover Platinum carpeting + 11mm underlay Karndean longboard vinyl planks (they look unbelievable) Total $19200 We chose to remove from our contract as although not much difference in price, the vinyl is far superior to the laminate and no scotia is a bonus Hope this helps! Great info jellytot. How did you go about with the skirting? Did you remove that and install after handover? We are also contemplating removing flooring entirely. Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 17479Jul 11, 2017 9:17 am Hey cybistro If we were going to do laminate, the builders would have tacked on the skirting for the floor people to reinstall on top of the laminate. In the case of vinyl though, it butts up against the skirting, so no need to remove and reinstall Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 17480Jul 11, 2017 10:01 pm Just finished with our colours appointment today and boy was it a long day! We didn't finish with stairs and aircon (because they had already left at 5pm!) so we're gonna have to make separate appointments for those which will probably only take 30 minutes. Tip for those going to colours, go prepared with concrete ideas and colours in mind as it really helped us breeze through the colour selections. Visiting display homes with the colour boards in mind really helped us as well. Just spending half a day at Parklea with all the display homes helped us heaps. I must admit that I've been to pretty much half the display homes that Clarendon has (Jordan Springs, Parklea, Willowdale, Marsden Park), so that definitely did help although the home we are building is not on display anywhere lol. We just ticked off colours we liked and didn't like, and design ideas which we liked and didn't. We took the longest time at kitchens because of the massive amount of changes we are making there. Also, we didn't get a quote back from any of the colours or variations, except for carpet (gold underlay gold carpet) and laminate. We did not sign anything at all, so don't be afraid to tell them that you don't want to sign anything, or in our case, have nothing to sign off on. Tiles is tomorrow and I'm still contemplating between laminate and tiles for the main areas. It's irking me that for laminate, we have to pay $1000+ (or more according to Kitchens), for the scotia beading not to be there, in addition to the extra cost for laminate. Anyone went for laminate here and regretted it? My build blog here the stair balustrades? There is nothing special about these and I imagine literally every stair installer will be able to do this. 1 6688 The two 15mm holes are obviously not compliant. The Dept of Fair Trading would love to see this one! Do the gutters pool water after it stops raining? Although it's… 4 7822 Thanks for your reply. I will just wait and see I guess.
