Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 06, 2017 12:48 pm Has anyone know a method that can lighten up the color of mortar or dye it to a bright light color on an existing brick wall. We love our brick and don't like rendering but we were in budget and could not afford $2500 off white mortar upgrade from the builder. I've done a Google Search and found in UK/US they use this product from this supplier http://www.dyebrick.com/ and in Australia the only company I found is http://nawkaw.com.au/services/bricks-and-mortar/ but they don't have a pricing for their product and I don't know if we can DIY that. Re: Can you dye or lighten the color of Mortar Joint 2Jul 06, 2017 1:14 pm tngo I don't know if we can DIY that. "That colour gets applied to the brick or mortar surface by a Nawkaw Accredited Applicator - usually by hand." Doesn't look like you can and sounds very expensive. Re: Can you dye or lighten the color of Mortar Joint 3Jul 06, 2017 1:26 pm Yeah, nerve cracking that it might cost thousands too, that's why I wonder if anybody know any cheaper solution. I have seen many photos on line of the brick varying from a rustic to a neat finish.… 0 4568 To my understanding early saw cuts are to control shrinkage cracks, so doing them now would be pointless. Control joints may reduce ugly cracking during periods of soil… 3 9799 Hi all I need a guidance on how far I need to space expansion joints in the concrete driveway and its type (keyway/foam.)
