Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 04, 2017 2:47 pm I'm doing a knockdown and rebuild a single house. A while ago I lodged a application to council to get legal point of discharge info. It came back saying: The point of stormwater discharge is to: Option 1- the kerb Option 2-on-site infiltration system subject to soil suitability. No record of Council drainage pipes within this property and adjoining properties. I'm rather confused with the reply. I was wondering how the previous property discharged stormwater and why the proposed new house can't discharge stormwater via the same channel, whatever it is. The other thing that baffles me is whether it is normal for any property without a legal point of discharge. Can whoever has the experience or expertise shed some light regarding the above issue? Thanks Re: Storm water Legal point of discharge 2Jul 04, 2017 6:30 pm Council are so helpful. Storm water is owner responsibility to Install. Many older houses did not have storm water esp from back of house. I've been through this as well and used pro storm water company to install. The following link has some more information Stormwater Hi bashworth, thanks for the link. The soakage pits is the solution my builder proposed at the moment. They told me that discharging to the kerb is too difficult due to insufficient fall on my block which is barely 100mm from back to front. By the way I am in Melbourne.
