Re: JG King modified Heywood - Bricks started! 722Jun 22, 2017 4:04 pm well we are going the Cretement (the darker one) as well so my thoughts are well known! did like the ash as well, but wee going for a darker theme so slab grey it is. did you ask them to check their web site...it has the 600x600 ash white in Matt http://www.beaumont-tiles.com.au/All-Pr ... t+&pspid=1 compared to the same with wet http://www.beaumont-tiles.com.au/All-Pr ... t+&pspid=1 JG King Lexington 240 Acreage build https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=87762 Re: JG King modified Heywood - Bricks started! 723Jun 22, 2017 4:08 pm We went with 450x450 tiles with our selection and I'm ok with them we couldn't afford 600x600 we have such a huge floor space the additional $7k was out of reach. For 2k I would have considered it though! But after looking through your comments... I'm not a fan of the wet look, makes me think your waiting for your mopping to dry... though I prefer the larger format tile. Not sure I'd spend 4k+ on tiles myself, but if you can afford it... I like the portland and the smaller crete.. Eee, good luck chosing!! Also, so glad to hear about your SS D Sounds positive. Re: JG King modified Heywood - Bricks started! 725Jun 23, 2017 9:46 am charlibear I don't mind the Cretement Ash White - I would choose that if I were in your position - not what you wanted but maybe the best compromise. It looks very similar to the floor tile we've chosen New York Bronx 450x450. I hope you come to a decision soon. On a better note - your bricks look great!!! Edit to add: I think the 450 in the matt look I love your tile, I think it's probably closest to the Adelaide grey which sadly is still my fav Re: JG King modified Heywood - Bricks started! 726Jun 23, 2017 9:50 am natlyn I would choose the cretement ash white 450mm, 600mm is nice but not not in a wet look, will look much nicer Matt Our concern with the 450 is the repetition of the dark/light corners could end up looking a bit checker board like Belga grey does in large rooms. If only I could find either of them laid. And if only the 600 came in Matt, why it wouldn't is beyond me! Im loving following your build coming to life. Still shocked that the parapet was all the fuss was about. Council is crazy!! Hello! If we could get the Portland in the 520 square I think it would be worth it but I just can't quite convince myself for something that doesn't reduce the grout lines. I also didn't like the wet look when we tried to re-select last year and screwed my nose up at it again last week when I went in, although I was still feeling very emotional and screwed my nose up at everything . We I came home to the samples hubby had picked up last weekend, it started to grow on me. I might be just desperate . Re: JG King modified Heywood - Bricks started! 729Jun 23, 2017 10:03 am emts well we are going the Cretement (the darker one) as well so my thoughts are well known! did like the ash as well, but wee going for a darker theme so slab grey it is. did you ask them to check their web site...it has the 600x600 ash white in Matt http://www.beaumont-tiles.com.au/All-Pr ... t+&pspid=1 compared to the same with wet http://www.beaumont-tiles.com.au/All-Pr ... t+&pspid=1 The Matt 600 is textured. The tile girl quickly warned me off those indoors! Not that she needed to tell me, we've lived with textured tiles inside before, it takes a scrubbing brush to clean them. Did you go the 450 or 600 in the slab grey? We considered the slab last year because it has less colour variation across the tile but we want to stay light now that we know what our north neighbours are up to. Re: JG King modified Heywood - Bricks started! 730Jun 23, 2017 10:07 am trimum We went with 450x450 tiles with our selection and I'm ok with them we couldn't afford 600x600 we have such a huge floor space the additional $7k was out of reach. For 2k I would have considered it though! Our Acacia build - http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=86619 We were content with the 450 as well and never really looked at 600's much due to cost until we couldn't find another 450 we loved. It's so hard when all the other colours are built around the tile and now we have to shoehorn a tile in with all the other choices. And I'm fussy as Re: JG King modified Heywood - Bricks started! 731Jun 23, 2017 10:19 am I really like that 600 one, looks great laid too. Bugger to it only being wet look though!!! What does that mean, just that it's a bit more glossy? Is it possible to get a credit from JG for ruling and source tiling yourselves?? Re: JG King modified Heywood - Bricks started! 732Jun 23, 2017 10:19 am Your returned SM sounds so much better than the other guy! I'm so glad you have him back Re: JG King modified Heywood - Bricks started! 733Jun 23, 2017 10:20 am aloenyx They all look mostly the same to me XDD I like them all. In person they do all look like they could be from the same set (apart from the axis being a bit browner). But they are all quite different when they're laid on mass with their own kind. I think the camera has made them look a bit more contrasty than they actually are, the colours actually look a bit flatter, if that makes sense. As for affording them, we have the money, should we be spending it on tiles, probably not! So much else to spend money on! However we have to live with these tiles for a very long time so I want to be happy with them. Re: JG King modified Heywood - Bricks started! 734Jun 23, 2017 10:33 am kylz4 I really like that 600 one, looks great laid too. Bugger to it only being wet look though!!! What does that mean, just that it's a bit more glossy? Is it possible to get a credit from JG for ruling and source tiling yourselves?? I should clarify for everyone that the "Wet" doesn't look as wet and shiny as it sounds. I had to get down to a low angle facing the sun to get it to show on camera and looking at them every time I go past they don't actually look shiny at all. Standing above the tile, even in full sun, they look matt, its bizarre! Not like a polished tile at all. In a big room though, I worry that somewhere always catch the light. Although that doesn't bother me when I've seen the Axis white lappato laid. The closest thing I can liken it too is lappato, although the cretement wet is less shiny than the axis lappato. We have asked about owner supply, they won't do that anymore. They are happy for us to delete the tiles and do it after handover however they are saying that they have to do the laundry which is attached to the main space so we'd have to rip them up. They have previously said they have to do the kitchen as well but surely that's not right, heaps of people do their kitchens after handover. We'd prefer not to have to go down that path but it is an option. Slab is 450 only, no option for bigger. Considering now JG only include tiles in bathroom and laundry and not kitchen their comments seem a bit strange. and know what you mean with the wet look, we saw it and said no straight up, it's a weird finish plus I would expect when wet in bathrooms would be very slippery. It's on their website in 600 and I have some pictures I saved from homeone when I was looking last year. Only wet or textured like the other 600's though. Without a floor it's so tall it makes it look small in photos. We've also had a visit from a plumber either Friday or Saturday morning, bath is properly plumbed in now and the hot water service pipes have been extended. Last week was our first full 5 day week of work, so we're feeling pretty good at the moment! Really looking forward to meeting our new SS tomorrow to run through all the issues and find out what next! He seems much more switched on and communicative. I'm not sure that the last guy passed anything on to him. He was unaware we were waiting for a date to book our pre-plaster inspection. We've ended up booking it for this afternoon, insulation won't be in like our inspector prefers but he is going away tomorrow and plaster is currently scheduled for Friday. Bricks should be finished Wed/Thurs, but I'm thinking possibly Thurs/Fri. The missing roof capping will be finished while the plaster is being done, but the cladding around the skillion won't be done until late next week because the last SS never ordered the material . So I'll be keeping fingers crossed for minimal rain.
He'll have the roofers fix the skillion capping so that it matches the drawings, I still won't be surprised if they come back with an excuse why it can't be, but he didn't put up any fight so I'm happy. He also agreed the water damaged doors are stuffed and will be replaced! He didn't seem thrilled with the previous SS's management style and is hoping to get things flowing a bit smoother from now, we're certainly feeling much better . I would never build with Fowler homes. I built with them in 2021 and till date maintenance issues are pending.
