Or tiles for both? My build - viewtopic.php?t=87470 Will have tiles down post handover. I need to do the same .... As I've just got a big concrete portico and alfresco area. Anyone who's tiles spaces like these, what's it cost / metre please? I got it quoted during the build and said no as it was quite expensive and we were trying to keep the costs down. It has decking to the portico. Looks very nice imo. Remembered one member has deck to the front on h1 forum as well Re: Building with Metricon 5529Jun 18, 2017 9:48 pm The Kew Hampshire display home had decking in the portico and it looked out of place with the provincial brick and render facade. We chose the sandblast pattern, IIRC, which added about $800 to the quote from selections. Shocked, I quickly deleted this item as we proceeded with the final tender. I decided i would do something about it myself following Handover. I searched online, and found frosting window films on ebay, which were for about $14. I had a $10 off coupon on ebay which i redeemed against this item, bringing down the cost to about $4. Over the last couple of weekends, armed with knowledge from Youtube videos on DIY, i set out to frost em glasses. Re: Building with Metricon 5533Jun 19, 2017 9:17 am Does anyone know the approx cost to upgrade second floor render to the weatherboard style cladding? Re: Building with Metricon 5534Jun 19, 2017 9:58 am Great work Ben!! That's it, you've inspired me to do some frosting myself. Re: Building with Metricon 5535Jun 19, 2017 12:03 pm dulie Great work Ben!! That's it, you've inspired me to do some frosting myself. No worries, Dulie. Power on! Lemme know if you need any advice. My first attempt was on the little slots on the door. A couple of them have tiny air bubbles, more due to my lack of experience and also not having the right squeegee for the job. Also, when using the squeegee over the film, make sure you have sprayed over the film as well, so it glides easy. Re: Building with Metricon 5537Jun 19, 2017 1:45 pm Hi all, Newbie here! We in VERY early stages of our build, have placed our deposit on our land in QLD and have shopped around for houses, Metricon was the highest price by far, however when we asked them if they could do better and showed them our quotes from other builders, they quickly came in well under our budget, leaving room for a few luxury's hopefully. We have decided on the HomeSolution Neo 23 and are adding on the internal and external upgrade packs which will "finish" our house - I'm guessing this is their "turn-key" We are super simple people and are building on a budget, which we know is difficult in itself. the only upgrades we really are needing is: - Ceasar stone bench tops - Wall hung vanities - Bigger shower head in ensuite - Under mount kitchen sink - Add internal door to garage - 2 zone ducted aircon Our internal upgrade pack also comes with $2500 dollars extra electrical allowance. Is this going to be enough example for downlight throughout? Some of the things we need to upgrade as per covenant are: - Gas water connection (apparently our sales consultant said this was included) - Gas appliances - Off white mortar to bricks We are first time buyers and builders and are feeling very naieve about the whole process. We are meant to go next Sunday to meet with our sales consultant and place our $1500 deposit. We would really appreciate some help as I am sure there are so many questions we haven't asked. Can anyone provide some insight of things to be mindful of? also some prices for the above extra's and upgrades would also be super helpful! Thanks so much!! There is another forum on here called "things you forget" or something similar. Check it out as it has useful things to remember when building. My build - viewtopic.php?t=87470 Re: Building with Metricon 5539Jun 20, 2017 12:20 pm So Metricon pay the 'power' bill when they are building a house, because I have never received a bill from an electricity company. How ever I do keep getting water bills from SE water. The last was for 25,000 litres. Is this a lot ? It's more than what is normal for one person living there 24/7 for the 3 months. It equates to 277 litres a day. Should Metricon be paying for the water usage ? Also this bill didn't include the days when the slab was poured. That was included on the last bill at the start of the year. Re: Building with Metricon 5540Jun 20, 2017 12:31 pm Metricon never paid any power bills of ours. We actually had to pay for it, and hire a temp power pole while they had no power on top of that too. Hi, First of all, thank you to this community for sharing your thoughts and opinions.
