Browse Forums Windows & Doors Re: Questions... 5Jun 15, 2017 10:41 am Brick sills don't have standard angles, in Qld they are often square. The clearances would be 10mm all round. But if you are careful you can make it 10mm overall on height. So ignoring the angle on the brick sill, the window could be 762 high. What height is the stacker? Height of stacker is 2400mm. Question about awning windows. If they are more narrow (850mm) and tall (2100mm), can you place the hinges and winder on the side? I.e. opens out like a book. That way you don't have bend down to wind it open/closed. Re: Questions... 7Jun 15, 2017 1:17 pm The stacker... yes, depends when you want it. The window is called a casement, yesy, we can make that in a single sash, double glazed. Which is easirer/cheaperer/betterer? A 2100 tall window on a 300 wall/ledge/sill thing or a 2400 tall window on the floor? Ceiling height being 2550 and 2700. What is under the window if it's set on the floor? And, are square set window surrounds different from normal architrave ones? (haven't googled that yet) Re: Questions... 14Jun 19, 2017 10:18 am 2100 tall starting at 300 v. 2400 tall on the floor... Obviously the 2400 tall window will be dearer, but whether that actually pans out in the total cost depends on the bricks/lightweight materials that repalce the 300. Operationally, if it is a full sash awning window, then 300 off the floor makes it easier to operate the chain winder. With the window on the floor, your choice is to leave off the bottom reveal and run the floor covering into the window recess, or have the reveal level with the plaster and the floor covering ends at the plaster. If you don't want architraves, then a product called Ezy Reveal is often used to form a neat corner with the plaster.
