Blog: http://thereluctantbuilder.blogspot.com/ Re: Long skinny laundry?? (updated - pics pg 3) 24Feb 22, 2009 7:52 pm Onebuild I like the laundry two layout. But of course with some other modifications. :) Genius onebuild! I looked at the unmodified one and said "ah ha, how about putting the WM/D in a cupboard in the hallway and make the end part of it storage" .. then scrolled down two posts and found that :) Re: Long skinny laundry?? Gives us so much to think about I do like the long bedroom - EXCEPT for the entry to the bedroom being through the kitchen The laundry in a cupboard style would work, and I do like the idea of making it a walk in linen closet with that design. But I think the last layout I put up is the front runner at this stage. It gives us a large laundry room and by putting the washer & dryer (walk mount) on the short wall with the sink in the corner, it makes the most of the available space. Oh, and I also like the idea of moving the study door and putting a wardrobe in - that hadn't even entered my mind!! Will definitely be using that one I think! Can anyone see there being an issue having the washing machine & dryer on that short wall? Re: Long skinny laundry?? (updated - pics pg 3) 29Feb 22, 2009 8:35 pm Onebuild esg placed the WM/D in the cupboard. I think its a good idea also. Laundry two layout is very workable IMHO. Do you think the WM/D in the cupboard is more workable than my last layout? (below) The one thing I do like about the WM/D in the cupboard is that there's loads of space for ironing. Nice layout, decent size rooms and heaps of storage Building Upside down house in Wantirna VIC Current Stage: Procrastination... it's just all too hard.... Have the doors as close as possible to the WM/D or bring the cupboard out to 1200 deep so it matches the rest of the hallway? I think where they are.. because then you'll have enough room to do this - Re: Long skinny laundry?? (updated - pics pg 3) 34Feb 23, 2009 7:50 pm Work started today
In the photos below you can see the quality insulation we've been living with *cough* No wonder it was always freezing / boiling down this end of the house!. Where the wall sheets have been removed is where the ensuite is going to be. YESTERDAY: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ This room is to the left out of view in the pic above. Have the doors as close as possible to the WM/D or bring the cupboard out to 1200 deep so it matches the rest of the hallway? Undecided on this one, I can think of pros and cons for both. Photos look good, very clean builder you have there. Re: Long skinny laundry?? (updated - pics pg 3) 36Feb 23, 2009 8:30 pm Yes, he is a clean builder. Very very happy with the work he does
Re the cupboard... I do like the idea of the fold our ironing board - though I think if I brought the cupboard out to 1200 then it would fit inside the cupboard. Also, having the cupboard wider means I can have the 'next' load waiting to go, and it's hidden. Have just been and remeasured everything to get a feel for the dimensions. It all feels good In an ideal world I'd like to make the bedroom wider, but for the sake of 50-100cms there's a whole lot of extra building that's required. So at the end of the day, it's just not worth it. Re: Long skinny laundry?? (updated - pics pg 3) 37Feb 24, 2009 5:34 am Hi, I think your master bedroom has some problems. When you walk through the door the first thing you'll see is the door to teh ensuite. Most bedrooms have the bed on the opposit wall to the entry. Could you move the ensuite door so you can get your bed onto that wall? Re: Long skinny laundry?? Most bedrooms have the bed on the opposit wall to the entry. Could you move the ensuite door so you can get your bed onto that wall? Not without compromising the layout of the ensuite. And for me, having the bath near the window and the shower next to it is more important than what we see when we walk through the bedroom door. After all, when we have kids - we'll probably appreciate the split second between the door opening and them facing the bed I understand it's not an perfect layout, but we're doing the best we can with limited space and money. Renovating an entire house inside and out, for under half the cost of a knockdown & rebuild - well, we have to make some compromises Re: Long skinny laundry?? That keeps the little buggers out. Do you have a top- or front-loading washer? I was thinking that if you're able to stack your washer/dryer, you'd have no probs with accessing them if they're in the centre. Then you can have bench space to one side and sink to the other.... If it's a top-loader, I guess the dryer can go on the wall anyway - although that never worked for me because I'd have to stand on a step to see inside. Agreed. I just found out today the certifier has not given the final sign off. 2 4186 Hey all, Hoping for some inspiration for my bathroom laundry combo. The tiles are in good condition, as is the bathtub.
