Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Journey with Mimosa Homes VIC 27May 30, 2017 11:46 am Hi jmasood, Good to see your construction progressing well. We are building with mimosa homes as well. Construction starting in 2 – 3 weeks. Just a quick question, do you have to pay the electricity connection fee and usage charges while your home is being built ? or is the electricity under Mimosa's name during construction and it'll only get transferred to yours after handover ? We've just got an email from our consultant at mimosa asking us to sign the energy australia electricity set up form. Which says there'll be connection fee of $700. I thought builders were responsible for paying the electricity usage while the house is under construction ? TIA. Re: Journey with Mimosa Homes VIC 29May 30, 2017 12:34 pm Thanks for getting back Do you mind me asking how much was the meter connection fee in your case? $700 (that they've mentioned as being the maximum that could be charged) sounds a bit too much... Thanks.. Thanks.. Hi Mate, May I know the design you are going with and how's it so far with Mimosa? Thanks Re: Journey with Mimosa Homes VIC 31May 30, 2017 12:44 pm It was about $550 i think, i believe it is whatever the service provider charge. I am building Johanna 240, it's going ok. Tiling has been completed today. Let see how long they take further for rest of the work till handover. Re: Journey with Mimosa Homes VIC 32May 30, 2017 1:09 pm Cool thanks for that. Good luck with the rest of your build. Looks great so far. We are building Saba 287. Sales and pre construction experience has been good so far. Hope it stays that way till the end.... Sales and pre construction experience has been good so far. Hope it stays that way till the end.... Great, good luck. It's good design but we skipped it as it did not meet our requirements. The pre-sales experience has always been good, but in my case issues started happening when file went to head office. It was a bad experience, the higher standard set by sales person went all the way to worse, however after waste of some time sales agent helped me to escalate it further, the business owner got it fixed and since then new head office consultants I have been communicating are amazing. PS: Proactive communication from head office is not that great, I have to contact them myself regularly to be aware of the progress of build. Even till date when work is almost done, they cannot tell me date of completion but a rough idea when can i expect. It may be because of more orders vs less resources, but that's definitely an area of improvement for them. Re: Journey with Mimosa Homes VIC 37Aug 31, 2017 5:01 pm Hand over has been good. Overall Quality of build is good but paint work has not been great a lot of marks and patches getting visible daily. Lesson learnt is to make sure each bit is checked before signing anything as many of items i am getting response like it's accepted as per Australian standard. Other items are getting fixed like tiling issue and plumbing stuff Re: Journey with Mimosa Homes VIC 39Oct 11, 2017 12:20 pm Mimosa have 6 months defect period. But I suggest everyone to go through every single thing especially around paint marks in sunlight and other lighting for not missing anything. I did hired Darbecca for all stages but there were some things not picked by them and builder saying it was not in final report so never existed before. So don't sign anything and take your time. Mimosa is trying to give hard time on some item fixes which were pending for last 3 months, but their upper management is very good so far and listening so let see how it goes. I noticed crack already in garage area. THEY TAKE AGES TO FIX THING AND THEN SAY WE R PUSHING BUT THEN SUPPLIER WHO HAS AGREEMENT WITH OUR VENDOR IS NOT DIRECTLY CONNECTED WITH US. WHICH MEAN THEY CANNOT DO ANYTHING OR WANT TO ESCALATE.
