It's not about your privacy, it about protecting your neighbor's privacy.
Lucky we have translucent films on only two windows. We will definitely peel them off as soon as we move in. Lol

You don't have to have obscure windows in your bathroom . I mean how does that make sense? You would think the bathrooms have to be obscure more then the normal living areas. Or that we will give that choice if we wanted . The bedrooms as that should be similar privacy as the bathrooms? But it isn't. And it's stupid to give one neighbour a choice just cos that got there first. So how fair is it that they can enjoy their views when they look out their clear glass windows. But we can't. It doesn't make sense. viewtopic.php?t=86597 Totally agree with you but what to do, Have no choice. Yes got no choice. But I will after viewtopic.php?t=86597 Re: New here we are building the Doulton 56 with extension 405May 20, 2017 7:01 am $64k Ouch!!! What were the variations? Re: New here we are building the Doulton 56 with extension 406May 20, 2017 7:18 am Wow 64k extra, I hope it's within your budget. At the time of signing up my salesperson said I didn't need to obscure any glass as long as the neighbour didn't have an occupancy permit. Lucky for me my building permit was approved before the neighbour finished construction. It would of been a waste of the views if I had to obscure the glass upstairs. If you're going to rip off the film after handover you better make sure you have good relations with the neighbours. I would say most people would not like the idea of a neighbour having views to their private areas. I would say most people would not like the idea of a neighbour having views to their private areas. Yeah unfortunately they built before us. They might not like the idea but to be honest I'm not worried. I'm not going to pay a fortune for this house. Only by it too be covered in obscure windows. I think it's just to pass regulations. They put that film on there for a reason I reckon. And I really do hope it's a film. I don't think the neighbours that built on the fence line would complain. As he has part of his alfresco concrete on our land. Builders went over our land with it. They knew about it. So did we and the fence guy. But we let it go. Cos hubby said we will just put soil over it when we put our garden in your not going to see it. But it's something we could have made a big fuss over and get them too pull it out. As for other neighbours. I don't know. But I'm definitely not leaving it. As for budget. It's way over. But we will see how we go. Thanks too m and their structure. I did tell me csc that they totally need to restructure everything. With all their seperate documents. And the way they do things. It's not very helpful. It's more confusing then anything. As well as for them. She's knows it is too. Because they even got confused with things. viewtopic.php?t=86597 New here we are building the Doulton 56 with extension 408May 20, 2017 8:05 am You really need to keep an eye on all charges we went over every single variation and final costings only to discover we had been double charged on about 3 items totally $11,500. So it pays to make sure you get all the info, it's your money and you are paying for a service, sometimes builder think they are doing you a favour by building a home for you!! Oh not really anything major. Most would be the flush panel doors upstairs plus they didn't add them all down stairs like they were suppose too. Upgrade stone width in powderoom which they should have done to begin with, square set cornices in butlers, more up the top laundry cupboards, nothing really major too be honest. That's why we were surprised at how much it was. It's $10,000 less then our extension . Could have made the house bigger with that price. viewtopic.php?t=86597 Re: New here we are building the Doulton 56 with extension 410May 20, 2017 8:17 am trimum You really need to keep an eye on all charges we went over every single variation and final costings only to discover we had been double charged on about 3 items totally $11,500. Our Acacia build - http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=86619 Oh trust me I have been. I caught them trying to rip us off by $13,000. At selection I asked them what have you got on their for our final estimation cos I wanna see where your starting from? They didn't want to show me. I kept pestering her. Till I made her look at the documents she had in her hand. And I couldn't believe my eyes. It was $13,000 over. I said hang on a min that's wrong the price is suppose to be this much. As I usually memorise everything. She said oh you would have to take that up with your csc. I then contacted my csc. Told her you guys are over charging us. She investigated into it. Then she said oh the reason why is because your consultant didn't put in the promo on $13,000 for new land. I don't get that doesn't make sense as it's on our final variations document. Plus my consultant tried very hard to bypass pc so we can get that. Well sure enough she contacted her. And they fixed it. My consultant wasn't too impressed. As she said she put it in there. But my hubby also has a soft wear that makes sure the total is correct. I will be doing that again plus going through all the documents this week. That's why I haven't signed off on it yet. My advice don't trust anyone in the building industry. Specially at selections. viewtopic.php?t=86597 Re: New here we are building the Doulton 56 with extension 411May 20, 2017 8:22 am Wow it makes you wonder how many people get ripped off! Yes I agree about trust especially when you catch them trying to cover up, I honestly felt like they were trying to put things through in the hope we wouldn't notice! Our Acacia build - http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=86619 Yeah I agree with you 100% they do too. They did other things too. Tried to charge me $1100 for doors. Even thou we upgraded too different one. The colour selection consultant try to tell me it was right. When I told her it should be coming off. Then at contract the lady we had noticed it. And she this should be coming out. I told her I told the colour selection consultant. But she argued with me that it was right. Saying it was because of the extension. Then I was getting over charged with the obscure windows for the bathroom. I remembered on selection day the doors lady told me it was $35 each. Hubby didn't want it at the time. Then he changed his mind later. We tried to change it. Then they tried charging us $550 for 3 of them. I told them it was wrong and too check with the door consultant. She did and said I was right it was $35. But they still put it in the contract as $550. And even thou I was the csc who found out I was right about the price. She refused to change it. So I told her forget it I don't want it. So they took it out now. But then left it in. I got them to change it again viewtopic.php?t=86597 New here we are building the Doulton 56 with extension 413May 20, 2017 8:36 am I think I'm their worst nightmare. Cos I remember everything. And if they left something out. Or tried to charge me differently from what they told us at selection. They mucked up with the sink for ages. It went back and forth. I even had the code memorised from selection. But that made no difference. They finally changed it. Only for me to find it written down in colour schedule document. It was in there all along. That wasted weeks of waiting in the cue. And I told them. See this is why you shouldn't have so many different documents. As you guys didn't even look there anyway. What's the use in having it. viewtopic.php?t=86597 Re: New here we are building the Doulton 56 with extension 414May 20, 2017 9:07 am If I could go back I would have gone with a smaller builder, I thought I had researched the best builders and chose one we were really happy with, everything was great up until land registered and our builder decided to sell their home building business to another big builder, communication is now just awful, I feel we didn't choose this new builder it was forced on us and they have no idea what we wanted, what's more the new builders don't build our style home, they haven't taken it on as one of the selections so it's like we are just a nuisance they need to finish up Our Acacia build - http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=86619 Re: New here we are building the Doulton 56 with extension 415May 20, 2017 11:53 am trimum If I could go back I would have gone with a smaller builder, I thought I had researched the best builders and chose one we were really happy with, everything was great up until land registered and our builder decided to sell their home building business to another big builder, communication is now just awful, I feel we didn't choose this new builder it was forced on us and they have no idea what we wanted, what's more the new builders don't build our style home, they haven't taken it on as one of the selections so it's like we are just a nuisance they need to finish up Our Acacia build - http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=86619 That's terrible. They are going off the plans from our old builder and have already had to be corrected a few times, they put the frames and windows in the wrong places and we feel we have to check everything to correct them. Hopefully things will get a bit better we have a meeting with them in a couple of weeks and we are trying to maintain as best communication as we can although last week we were sent a formal letter threatening us with action if we didn't stay out of the site!
