Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building our dream 4May 11, 2017 1:32 pm Looks good. The fireplace does waste a bit of space but it separates hallway from living spaces and will heat the rooms up more evenly. What about moving the rumpus doors to the hallway? Means you can actually put stuff against the corner walls there where the doors are currently. Could even do double cavity sliders. Also maybe a skylight in the master WIR as opposed to the window so you can have shelves or a mirror at the end. Your family room is massive, what are you thinking for furniture placement there? The linen cupboard in the laundry seems a bit excessive since you have 2 other linen cupboards. I'd have a smaller linen in there and consider making the laundry more of a mud room type set up, so it would come in to where the hallway and internal access from garage is, and you'd walk through it coming from garage so everyone leaves their shoes and bags etc in there. So daunting sometimes. We had originally designed the laundry with mudroom in mind but decided against it as it ran into three bathrooms which i didn't want to have to clean 😂😂 so we removed the extra storage from the garage and put it in there, we are always looking for extra storage so hence why we have so much not that the one in the kitchen area is for linen. Loving the cavity slider idea will talk to hubby and see what he thinks. I love having a bath with the window open so purposely ran Windows above the bathtubs, Lucky we are out of town so no one can see in 😬 in the family room we are swapping the slider and the left window and running a big u shaped couch in there to face the back wall and mount the Tv on there. If we do move the fire place I'm not too sure what to put at the entry way, maybe a double door or big sliding door I have attached the couch and ideas for the entry hallway Re: Building our dream 8May 11, 2017 1:55 pm Re: Building our dream 9May 11, 2017 2:02 pm Whoops sorry you said WIR not ensuite, it's been a long week 😊 Yeah I didn't really want a window in there but it is as Bank said balancing the front facade. Building Monte Thanks heaps I like the L shape, I know what you mean. Hmmm this is all so hard!! I really need to stop looking at it and second guessing myself Re: Building our dream 14May 11, 2017 10:40 pm shellu Found you! I love the feature of the fireplace in the middle, maybe more practical places but I still think it's awesome! I've learnt a couple of tricks!! Yay quoting people!! Thanks it's to be bricked and a feature but hubby won't give me the extra metre I want from his office! Builder will hate us by the end when we keep moving it around 😬 Building our dream 15May 12, 2017 9:33 pm Hello Abuild, Congratulations on getting everything happening. We are currently going through the same process and waiting on our new plans to come back. Your floor plan looks great and the storage is fab, an idea for your fire place, you could make it a dual sided fire place, walking into a house with a fire going with be very inviting. In summer you can artfully pop a pile of logs in it . Great to see another acreage build too. Which state are you building in?? Will be following along Re: Building our dream 16May 16, 2017 7:05 pm Love your topic title. Most of us on here I think really go towards building new to make our dream come true. Will be following along as well! 🤓 Follow our first house build here! -> https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=86484 Re: Building our dream 17May 16, 2017 10:32 pm Tribe7 Hello Abuild, Congratulations on getting everything happening. Will be following along I will find you and follow on, I love acreage stuff and always looking for ideas! Stumped for trees for the driveway at the minute. That was the plan with the fire place and really was my only want for the house the rest was mostly the hubby so back to plan changes 😬 Poor builder! We will get there in the end and after our chat today it really is only minor. I was just wondering with kids too if the double sided in the middle of the room is a good idea but I guess they are only little for a short time. We are in NSW Do you have a thread? Thanks for the fireplace comment I have been so nervous about it but I'm sure it will look great once done and it was the one feature I wanted so have stick to it. Now just patiently 🙄😳 waiting on pricing and contracts. They said a week but it has now been 3. Chased up today again so will hopefully hear something by the end of the week. From everyone's thread this is the longest part it seems. I will have a look at your thread 😊 1 4650 Thank you so much everyone. This all makes a lot of sense.
