We'll be going separate this time. In terms of capacity, it really depends on the make rather than built in vs freestanding. Re: Difference between freestanding 90cm oven and built in 9 11Apr 06, 2017 12:37 pm As was mentioned, capacity seems to be determined on individual make/model more than type. We had a freestanding 900mm stove in our last house. The gap on each side was minimal and I didn't have any issues with food going down. We also had the kickboard run across the bottom, so the legs were taken off and the whole thing sat on the base of the cabinets, which stopped anything getting under it (unlike the rental we are currently in). If you go freestanding make sure it will sit on the baseboard of the cabinets, not on the floor. FWIW, our next place will have built ins mainly because I'm wanting an induction cooktop and like the seamless look. I have seen and done many like this, you should see the grime and gunk that builds up ontop of the kickboard after ten years! Although I haven't seen it first hand. Have you seen this done and is it viable/worthwhile? For me having a beautiful kitchen is important because the kitchen for our new home will be the centrepiece.
