Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation Re: Ducted aircon through builder 6Mar 22, 2017 6:09 pm Thanks for your advice. Builder has not given permission to communicate with the aircon contractor directly - I think they are concerned I will strike a deal directly? I'm not sure. It is always easier to install it during the build, and the builder will not allow another contracter into site before handover (ie I cannot source my own air con contractor) Re: Ducted aircon through builder 7Mar 23, 2017 12:51 pm Hi Everyone, what can you say about Temperzone ducted Aircon? it is 14KW to be installed to our 2 storey house 30squares. original proposal is 2 zones only day & Night. I have requested additional 2 zones, should be 2 zones downstairs (Bedroom & Open spaces) then 2 zones upstairs bedrooms & open space e,g, leisure room). I paid additional $700 for the two extra zones. would it be effective having a 4-zones or is the 14KW enough to cool down the whole house. it is part of the H&L package. Thanks. Re: Ducted aircon through builder 8Mar 23, 2017 5:27 pm Temperzone is predominantly used commercially so you're getting something with that's tried and tested. They are also not locked down to proprietary thermostat/controllers so you can replace it with anything if you don't like what is provided. Pretty sure they come bundled with a rebranded Smart Temp SMT770 which is a rock solid thermostat controller. It doesn't have zoning support so that will be additional to the controller. As to the sizing, without seeing plans I'd say not large enough... Re: Ducted aircon through builder 9Mar 23, 2017 5:38 pm Thank you Bel, hopefully it can cool down the whole house, our would be house is facing east. Thanks? Re: Ducted aircon through builder 10Mar 27, 2017 10:25 pm Hi All, I'm contemplating on whether to include Ducted AC in my package with Eden Brae Homes or not. They have quoted $11,614 for Single Storey house (22 sq) - 12.4KW, 2 Zones. Just wanted to check how did your ducted AC installation go after handover. I'm hoping to get some advice on which way to go. Also, is it a good idea to do downlights after handover as well? Please share your thoughts.
