Browse Forums Building A New House Re: JG King modified Heywood - Started! 426Mar 11, 2017 4:13 pm RegVic Congrats Bank... yes they cut little bit deeper than what's on the plan... If they followed the plans we would have 2m from the back uncut (more on the right), which avoided the need for the earth works over the easement permit but we have about half a metre not cut. We're not surprised we figured they would probably go a bit further. They have also cut right to the boundary on the north. It should have been only to the south, which will be retained by the builder. JG King modified Heywood - Started! 427Mar 11, 2017 5:15 pm We just had a closer look, the south is slightly battered and in from the boundary and the north is cut straight and on the boundary, seems to be the wrong way around, oh well I guess they'll sort it out. Re: JG King modified Heywood - Started! 429Mar 11, 2017 7:06 pm Ooh congrats!! How exciting!! I loved the first stage where you get to see something new happening every day Re: JG King modified Heywood - Started! 431Mar 11, 2017 8:46 pm julia1301 Wow bank thats so EXCITING!!!!! Gosh they are really trying to make up lost time arnt they, wohoo! Yeah, it's crazy! We were just hoping that there might be a sign up today. We got quite the shock when we saw the truck. I guess we'll have a bit of a wait now though, screw piles aren't booked until the end of next week. Although they haven't dug the strip footings for the porch and alfresco yet. They have screw piles in the bottom of them so they will need to be done next week. Hopefully we don't have a swimming pool tomorrow, we were thinking that it was good that we weren't getting cut until after the rain ☔️ Re: JG King modified Heywood - Started! 432Mar 15, 2017 10:37 am We received our commencement letter from the future yesterday! It stated that we started (past tense ) on the 15th so our contract end date is November 25th. Fingers crossed all goes to plan and we are in for Christmas! In reality we actually started on the 11th so in my needing everything to be just right world it should be the 21st of November. Edited to add I actually get Nov 25th working i out from the 11th, yet they claim to get that from the 15th, I give up lol. I've been losing a bit of sleep over the straight cut right on the north boundary, just lock me in a padded room now, i don't know how I will get through the next 6+ months . We haven't said anything to our base supervisor (not that we've met him yet), we don't want to be a pain before we've really gotten started. He'll see it eventually, and it shouldn't cause any issues yet. Hubby is totally chilled about it, I think he has his head firmly buried in the sand about the fact that it will now need to be retained and will require engineering and a permit due to it being on the boundary. Who's problem is it anyway? We didn't ask for it to be done that way, it's not that way on the plans, but I can't see it landing on anybody but us. As you can tell this over thinker is getting ahead of herself already Re: JG King modified Heywood - Started! 433Mar 15, 2017 4:08 pm bank We haven't said anything to our base supervisor (not that we've met him yet), we don't want to be a pain before we've really gotten started. We started off with that attitude, hoping that the Supervisor would pick up/correct the errors along the way. Big mistake - so many little (and big) problems were missed until we pointed them out. Multiple trades then had to re-work what they thought had been finished, wasting a lot of time and inevitably our money. Then the Supervisor had the arrogance to imply we should have identified the problems earlier whilst also accusing us of picking on every little issue. Hope yours is at least competent and knows how to use a phone. Re: JG King modified Heywood - Started! 434Mar 15, 2017 4:21 pm Fingers crossed! It sounds like we have a new guy for the rest of the build, but our base stage guy comes highly recommended. I certainly don't plan on being backwards in coming forwards, but I also really don't want to have to say the first thing your guys did is wrong. Hopefully we'll run in to him in person so we can discuss what has happened. One way or another I'll make sure they know Re: JG King modified Heywood - Started! 435Mar 15, 2017 6:52 pm bank We received our commencement letter from the future yesterday! As you can tell this over thinker is getting ahead of herself already I'm jealous of your commencement letter, how do I get me one of those Congrats though!! Hope your in before Chrissy. You made me laugh, we all get a bit crazy over our houses, but it can send you mad pretty quickly if you think about it too much.. its a looong time to completion. Try not to stress, a lot of these things work themselves out. If I think about all the things I was stressed about that ended up being for nothing.. and I'm STILL stressing XD Re: JG King modified Heywood - Started! 436Mar 16, 2017 10:47 am Love the dirt moving! Yes you need to stay on them and I think that helps them know that you are watching. Try not to over stress but that is easier said than done. And if it looks wrong ask your SS as they are not there everyday so good chance you will see it before they do. We found when we picked things out they were always good at fixing them and didn't get complaints about being picky. Our Build Thread - JG king Memphis Re: JG King modified Heywood - Started! 437Mar 16, 2017 11:51 am If you have access to a drone with a camera then perhaps take an ariel photo of the site and then ask the SS to relate the actual cut shown in the ariel photo back to planned cuts in your engineering plans. If they can't explain the difference in planned and actual cuts then it's on them to sort out with their trades or engineers. Re: JG King modified Heywood - Started! 438Mar 16, 2017 11:56 am Set out had been done before I even got down there this morning! I thought the rain might push it back a bit so I didn't go too early. It's so good to see progress, even if it's just pink pegs . Screw piles tomorrow, can't wait! They should be there all day so I won't miss the action this time.
