Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Mar 06, 2017 8:11 am Hi all have run a search through the forum re any recommendations people have for storage solutions during a knockdown rebuild - didn't find much re that kind of storage but loads re storage solutions when renovating / building in wardrobes, kitchens etc. We are moving in with parents as we are having another child and they live <5 mins drive from our property so will be convenient with caring for kids and to visit site, also found it very difficult to rent anything with a dog - even though he's a tiny little thing that doesn't dig, is gentle etc. Anywho, we are taking around 20% of our stuff with us as parents have beds, furniture, appliances etc.Only need clothes, gadgets, baby stuff etc. The remainder needs to be stored. Have seen taxi box but we are looking at $250+ pm are there any other cost effective solutions? We won't need access to the stored stuff throughout the build period. One secondary concern we have in addition to cost is to do with a big industrial container being delivered back on to our shiny new exposed aggregate driveway when the house is finished. ie dont want to sign up to a big container storage solution upfront if we know it could cause damage to driveway down the track. Anyone have experience with this? $3k is what we budgeted but would be great if we could save a bit of coin. What have people come up with in this space? Are there cheaper alternatives to taxi box? Re: Storage during knockdown 2Mar 06, 2017 8:36 am You might be able to get cheaper rates than Taxibox at a dedicated self-storage facility (e.g. Storage King or similar), depending upon how much space you need. However, if you don't need access, you can generally get the cheapest rates for storage via one of the major moving companies (I'm currently using Kent), although there will be an extra cost to have them collect and deliver your items at the beginning and end of the storage contract. Re: Storage during knockdown 4Jun 20, 2017 1:17 pm I agree with the suggestions here but firstly let me congratulate you on your good fortune of having your parents around near you! I should think that if they aren't too against it, the best solutions would be if you could make use of their home temporarily to put some of your items in storage and the bigger items could be put into a storage module elsewhere. Or like what GLO says, sell things off and use the cash to buy new items when you move back in. Good luck! What seems to be the officer's problem?
