Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 02, 2017 4:25 pm Hi everyone,
I thought I'd start a thread for our build. We are building the Statesman Felixstow Alfresco in Two Wells, SA. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We have chosen: Bricks: Austral Muscat Grey Roof, Gutters, Fascia & Downpipes: Colorbond Wallaby Roller Door & Front Doors: Shale Grey Piers: Stack Stone with Shale Grey Render in between. I will upload some photos when I get a chance of our selections. We are awaiting council approval currently. This was delayed as we decided to source our own septic system (an OzziKleen system), so we needed to source our own engineering report to reflect a different system! Looking forward to updating you all with photos. Our timeline so far: 22 October 2016 - Signed builders agreement 24 October 2016 - Signed land contract 2 February 2017 - Colour selections 8 February 2017 - Footings report received - under budget YAY! 23 February 2017 - Final Master Plans & 'Build Pack' received - awaiting formal finance approval Re: Statesman Felixstow Alfresc build in Two Wells, SA 3Mar 03, 2017 8:33 am Our selections are as follows: Our brick is Austral Muscat Grey: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Our roof, gutters, fascia and downpipes are Colorbond Wallaby: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Our garage roller door and front door are Colorbond Shale Grey: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We took inspiration from this build (I saw this photo somewhere on the forum, but didn't take note of who's it was - SORRY!!). This is our bricks and our roof. For our windows we have gone Ultra Silver Gloss - I think that is the same as this photo too: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We also have Stacked Stone on the front piers, with Shale Grey render in between. This is our stone (upgrade): Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Our porch tile (standard builders range): Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We went basic front doors (double doors), and will upgrade them through my work when I get a chance. Internal paint choice was Taubmans Gemini Silver 46. Standard cornices and skirtings. Standard internal doors, and knobs. These are our flooring choices: Lava Oak floating floorboards and Apollo Ridge Charcoal carpets: Carpets to bedrooms and WIR only. We are doing these ourselves after handover. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Our kitchen colours: I will be doing the splashback through my work after handover. My splashback is almost my favourite part of the house - it's a hard choice! Our benchtop is Motivi Arabascato, and our cupboards are actually Egger Premium White Gloss, but I grabbed a similar colour as they did not have a sample for me to take! These are upgrades we got as part of a package. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We also added drawers, all to the island. So it will be our cutlery drawer stack, a stack with 144, 288, 288 deep drawers, under sink cupboard, our dishwasher, a stack with 2 x 360 deep drawers, and then our microwave provision and a pot drawer under. This will keep our back wall of our kitchen all cupboards, clean and sleek - exactly what I was after. We have also laid these handles horizontally in both bathroom and kitchen: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Our bathroom selections: Our wall tiles have a very subtle marbly vein through them, the floor tiles are a concrete kind of colour. Our benchtops are the same as the kitchen - Motivi Arabascato, and the cupboards are Formica Charred Oak - a grey brown colour. We will also have a stack of drawers to each end of the ensuite vanity. Caroma Cosmo accessories. Ensuite shower, basins (inset) and taps were upgraded to the following: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I've also designed our walk in robe through my work, and it is going to look incredible! It will be in this Polytec Truffle Lini Matt, which is quite similar to our ensuite joinery colour: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ There will also be chrome hanging rail and chrome drawer handles. So happy to have finally put a thread together, it makes me much more excited and is handy to help visualise! Please feel free to ask me any questions! Re: Statesman Felixstow Alfresco build in Two Wells, SA 9Mar 08, 2017 8:16 pm Yay! You made a thread! I love all your selections, your house is going to be really fresh, classic and modern. Love it. I'm going to look into those floorboards because I really like them. Did you chose white sand grout with your bricks or a different colour? Re: Statesman Felixstow Alfresco build in Two Wells, SA 10Mar 09, 2017 8:16 am Thanks alysanne that is the exact look I'm going for!! I love parts of so many different design themes, I think if I pull bits and pieces from them here and there, it will all tie together really well . The floorboards are amazing! They are through the Carpet Selection Centre in Pooraka - I believe they are 12mm boards. Love them!! We were tossing up whether to go tiles or floorboards, but after discussing with a coworker who tiles professionally, he said he wouldn't tile his house. Purely because if you drop something, it can chip the tile, carries sound, and is more efficient for cooling, but harder to heat. Floorboards are also the cost effective answer for us, and we figure they are quite cheap, so if in a few years time we don't like them, we can pull them up and lay more! . We are going natural grey raked mortar I believe. We were going to go white, but decided we weren't bothered, so avoided extra cost . Re: Statesman Felixstow Alfresco build in Two Wells, SA 11Mar 20, 2017 8:13 am So on the 15th of March we received formal finance approval, and on the 19th of March we signed all of our mortgage paperwork. It's official! Woohoo. We visited the block, and also our display home and it felt SO much more real. We are starting to think of designs for our front garden and considering furniture options too. Very exciting! Re: Statesman Felixstow Alfresco build in Two Wells, SA 13Apr 05, 2017 1:50 pm So since my last post, we have settled on the land - this happened on 24th of March . Now we are at the very very last stage of council approval - and should have full development approval this week. From there, Statesman review our file, and we get a date that we will be Released to Construction!! Hoping that we will have slab laid before the end of April, as this will give us a great head start over the winter months Re: Statesman Felixstow Alfresco build in Two Wells, SA 15Jul 04, 2017 9:43 am Hi ckfd!! Since my last post we have had a bit of a delay. The builder missed a plasterboard requirement in our Land Management Agreement. This is to dampen sound from the train line that runs behind our block. All of the other requirements were adhered to but this one. So it was a battle, but in the end came in at a relatively low cost. Unfortunately we will have to pay for this out of our own pocket, as it was discovered after our mortgage had been approved, but never mind!! NOW! To the exciting news..... WE HAVE SLAB! As of yesterday (3 July 2017). Our site works began on Wednesday 21 June, trenches dug and finished by Saturday 24 June, plumbing down on Tuesday 27 June, plastic ready for rio to go down on 29 June, rio down on 30 June (a Friday), and slab completed yesterday, Monday 3 July. Very excited! I think they leave the slab to cure for two or so weeks. How is your build going? I've included a few slab pics too Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Statesman Felixstow Alfresco build in Two Wells, SA 16Jul 04, 2017 9:55 am Exciting!! Re: Statesman Felixstow Alfresco build in Two Wells, SA 18Jul 04, 2017 6:26 pm Congrats!! That's a good looking slab I think delays are just part and parcel of building but hopefully you'll have good progress now that the actual build has started. I'm looking forward to watching yours go up, I'm out north too and work in Gawler so know the area well Re: Statesman Felixstow Alfresco build in Two Wells, SA 19Jul 04, 2017 6:30 pm Yay! That's awesome! We got a letter telling us after the slab was poured it would be approx 2 weeks until the framing would start and it was exactly 2 weeks so I hope it's the same for you!!!
