Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Metricon build - help please 2Feb 25, 2017 8:03 pm It all depends on what you want. If you want a house looking like the display home be prepared to pay. the base price in this situation can rise to double the homes base price. Final quote is an ongoing process. You will not know the final price until all your selections are made and that is months away. I have payed the initial 1500 but that is a soil test/survey and not a deposit on the build of the house. More like I am interested in the house but no commitment yet.(from either party) Re: Metricon build - help please 3Feb 25, 2017 8:32 pm nixmal Hi, first timer here. We are planning a knockdown rebuild and have started scouting potential builders and are leaning towards Metricon. We were given approximate quote of base home price plus 70 000 for demolition, curtains and landscaping plus to allow 60 000 for extras (am assuming incidentals and furnishings). I understand final quote is provided after the deposit of $1500 is paid but we are trying to figure out if this is a realistic estimate? Thank you Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ As Stanus said, price is not finalised until all variations are accounted for. We signed our contract in Nov, and the actual cost was finalised just 2 weeks back. We have incurred additional $100k above the base price (the one you see in their booklet)- for a medium finish home. Includes all site costs, BAL variation, Basix and the upgrades. We are doing basic Electricals wiring and downstairs electricls with M, no landscape/driveway. M charges way more for everything, so anything you can do outside, like landscape, demo, concreting, curtains, get comparative quotes to see. There are a few posts where some have mentioned their selections and what it cost them, keep browsing; that's how I knew that the initial provisional amounts I had in my quote was a joke. Eg $5k for electricals would probably just get me some switched and wiring . Actual cost for all inclusions I wanted was $22k Re: Metricon build - help please 4Feb 26, 2017 12:01 pm Wow 60k for upgrades? I'd check out granvue homes they do knock downs and rebuilds. Yeah you might loose $1,500 but think of the savings when you compare all the standards with granvue which are considered upgrades with Metricon. We lost 2k with mimosa Acer switching to granvue but we got a bigger house and all the standard inclusions ending up working out cheaper in the long run. Make sure you know what your in for before proceeding to contract signing stage Re: Metricon build - help please 5Feb 28, 2017 9:55 pm nixmal Hi, first timer here.
