Metro 32 KDRB Bayside Melbourne viewtopic.php?f=31&t=84012 Re: Building with Metricon 4684Feb 20, 2017 6:24 am emmyawards I'm planning to have 2700 ceilings downstairs so am planning to upgrade the height of the windows and doors. My upstairs is 2550 do you think I need to upgrade height of windows and doors there or will the standard height be ok? Due to flood overlay we have an overall height restriction, so we increased ground floor to 2550, and upstairs is still 2400, but we increased the door heights to maintain the feeling of height. Amazing optical illusion!! From memory, it cost about $300 to do the entire house Our Bayside KDR Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=78298 Re: Building with Metricon 4685Feb 20, 2017 8:59 am Hi, I am a first home builder in Victoria, as well as the First Home Builders Grant of $10,000 which my bank has applied for. I am entitled to a 50% Reduction in stamp duty paid on the land. Due to Prinicipal place of Residence reduction and First Home Buyer Reduction. My question is, when am I able to apply to apply to receive the refund of 50% of Stamp Duty that I have already paid ? My build is up to the frame stage. You can claim the stamp duty reduction once you receive the certificate of completion. Remember, one of the eligibility criteria is, you receive the certificate of completion within 12 months from the date of land settlement... Wish you the best with your building journey... Re: Building with Metricon 4687Feb 20, 2017 5:48 pm Re: Building with Metricon 4688Feb 20, 2017 6:02 pm They should have used a full brick and half-brick in alternate rows to the left of the expansion joint... You can't move the expansion joint.. the engineering plan will dictate how many expansion joints a house should have and where... If you want to fix, they need to take all the bricks to the left of the expansion joint out and re-brick it... Re: Building with Metricon 4690Feb 20, 2017 6:32 pm Rain rain rain....... the sarking went on the roof today but he yellow tongue floors for upstairs are badly warped at all the joints due to all the terrible rain of late ..... what to do? Re: Building with Metricon 4696Feb 21, 2017 9:21 am Hello lovely people Well, I've got news! Slab was poured today and no one even told us about it! Not complaining that the build's finally started, but the lack of communication at this very beginning does not keep me hopeful for the future! My neighbour sent a message as she saw the slab on this morning, lol. Glad she thought of telling me! We planned to use Housepect for all stages and have not locked them in yet, I guess we have to do it NOW, as the first stage of slab inspection should happen soonIsh? Can anyone tell me when does a slab inspection happen and what does it involve? Ta By the way WOOHOOOOO Finally I join the league of people talking about their build and showing off pics Re: Building with Metricon 4697Feb 21, 2017 12:01 pm Renman Have you been giving a price yet? I think they are over charged us big time for it. Nah, supplying our own appliances... Metricon source whatever you want, but have to add margin... We're just providing dimensions for all cutouts including sink (at this stage), and getting them installed post handover... M just makes a note to give you the appliances (SMEG in our case) with original packing and it's up to us to sell or dispose of it... We did have to give M the exact models and dimensions of the appliances we are getting ourselves so they can make sure they fit into the kitchen cabinetry.. Also we were told by our Qasair supplier that if we use an accredited Qasair installer. We get a longer warranty period..
