If it's a new home termite treatment would have been a requirement of the DA, do you will probably find you have a perimeter barrier in place. It may just be a matter of maintaining what is already in place. Check the lid of your electrical board, here in NSW it's a requirement for all new and renovated homes to have a sticker of the company that installed it placed inside the board, you could call them for regular inspections. If you can't find anything it may be in the scope or paperwork for the house that you can look up with the original builder or owner of the property. Good luck! Not sure if I have to pay the company for them to come and inspect every year ? and do you know how much it would be ? Cheers Steven Re: Should I need a pest control for a brand new home ? 5Jan 11, 2017 9:48 am If you have a sticker you should also have certificate of termite protection installation. If you read it it will tell you annual inspections are required or your warranty will be void. For price ring the number on the sticker. Do I have to do with that company every year ? or I can do pest control with any company and just get a certificate from that company ? I think if I do with that company, they would charge a lot more than other companies . Thanks Steven Re: Should I need a pest control for a brand new home ? 7Jan 11, 2017 11:05 am If another company takes over warranty it should be ok but its not likely, they will still have to warrant their own inspection, but that will leave split liability and expose you to possibility of a dispute. Re: Should I need a pest control for a brand new home ? 10Feb 25, 2017 8:39 am BUT ... check your warranty. You might find you have a set warranty - ie 10 years. BUT - if you have the annual check each year - one year is added to your warranty - ie your 10 year warranty remains current. So - if you use - say Termi-mesh, you will keep your warranty so long as you keep doing the annual check. It is basically like any other form of insurance. The annual fee is nothing to sneeze at - but it gives you this assurance I guess. In a high white ant / termite area I'd say it is an essential - as important as any other form of insurance for the house. Re: Should I need a pest control for a brand new home ? 11Feb 27, 2017 9:46 am Regardless of termite protection, annual inspections are essential because Termites can breach or go around termite barriers. It is essential to detect Termite activity before serious damage occurs. Also if you have constructed a deck right up to the house you have also given them a free kick(opportunity for undetected entry) Foremost Building Expert in Australia, assisting with building problems/disputes, building stage inspections,pre-contract review advice for peace of mind 200 blogs http://www.buildingexpert.net.au/blog Hi group, have some damage to the door frame and skirting board.
